Hi,
I have a 2007 CR-V LX and would like to add an accessory outlet. Anyone ever tried this or have any idea how it might be accomplished? I would like to add one that could be used by anyone in the back seat. Thanks,

T.

T.Welcome to the forum! :)

It should be quite easy to add an extra socket. There are at least 2 extra taps in the fuse box that are open for extra accessories. Just make sure you use large enough wire and ensure that you fuse the new socket, for safety.

PS - you have not filled out your profile with your location. You could be anywhere in the world!

Hi 2RedV's,
Thanks for your response. Do you know of a place that sells such an outlet? I"ve never done this before but would try doing it myself if I can find some DIY instructions. I'm in the USA, and thanks I just updated my profile.
Thanks

T.

Radio Shack. AutoZone. PepBoys. JCWhitney.com
If you want it to look factory, get a real Honda accessory outlet and wire it in instead of an aftermarket one. Heck, it's just 2 wires. One hot and one ground. I would, however, keep the outlet wired to one of the Accessory only taps instead of one that is always ON.

I installed a dual outlet next the driver seat on the floor so that the tray between the seats can still fold down. I picked it up for $5 at the local superstore, along with heavy duty wiring and ran the wiring under the carpet, along the trim and under the dash to the fuse box.

That way my kids can plug in a game boy or DVD player from the back seat, or the passengers in the front can plug in cell phone chargers, etc.I chose to connect to a tap that was always on. I may regret it but it makes it easier on the kids watching a movie on long trips when I pull in for gas or whatever.

Took all of 30 minutes to install it.
