Don't know where you are from but if you spend a LOT of time in snow, you won't do better than Nokian Hakkapeliitta snow tires.:)

Kelly is large "generic" for lack of a better term, tire brand. They make lower priced tires, often modeled after the big name stuff.

Go to tirerack.com and check out the specs on snow tires, then check out the reviews.

I have those on and they work great on ice and in the snow
From Quebec Canada, were we drive with snow tires almost 6 months every year

I must say that if you can get Nokian, go ahead they are great but the Michelin are very good and quieter on the road

Ditto.

I've always run the Michelin X-ice's with great results.
......although they are a bit on the expensive side.

Just put on a set of Firestone Winterforce snows from Tire Rack yesterday. Got their 16" steel rims. We just had a little snow today so this is preliminary info but they seem pretty good in snow/slush (much better than the awful Bridgestone Duellers). Also very noisy on bare pavement. The price was right. We are looking at a much bigger snowstorm on Friday here in the NE so I'll have more information in a couple of days.

pete, Whistler Silver '07

BTW, the CRV looks rough and tough with the all-black wheels and tires. I was gonna paint the wheels dark silver but didn't have time.

Update on my new Winterforce snows: 16" on steel wheels from Tire Rack(BTW, my '07 is 2WD)

Loose snow: excellent for braking, forward thrust and cornering.
Packed snow: very good.
Ice: no basis for a rating yet.
Dry pavement: a little mushy, but generally good handling for a snow tire.
Wet pavement: very good traction.
Noise: poor; very noisy on pavement with a constant howl, especially from 30 to 50 mph. Even for a snow tire, these are noisy.

Any evaluation like this is very subjective since my standards for comparison are the original Bridgestone Duellers (awful!) and my wife's Accord with Bridgestone Blizzak W50s.

Conclusion: great winter security for the price!

Blizzacks are great winter tires. Had them on the 350Z I had before I bought the CR-V. They made that car good to drive in the winter. The stock tires were a disaster.

I really can't vouch for the snow performance, we haven't had much since I bought the V, but freezing rain? The Pearl handles it like it was a hot August afternoon. Highly recommended.

Excellent tires. I've had these on all my vehicles and can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommended!

That must have hurt!
Had 2 kinds of snowtires on my '03 V. First were Blizzaks, and I preferred them with *imo* better traction in snow and on ice. Second were Michelin X-Ice. They were great all around, and had ok traction in snow and ice.

I"ve been a ski instructor for 35 years and like winter driving.

Did you guys buy Winter Tires and mount them on your existing wheel, or did you go get a different wheel with a smaller size of something?

Im trying to make a set of 2006 CRV Wheels (16") winter tires for my 2008 CRV.

Let me know, I would appreciated any and all info.

What year is your crv? The more narrow a snow tire you run the better.

So, what's the best size for winters? When I went into the dealership to see what packages they were offering for winter ( for comparision, I'd never buy a package from the stealership ) he told me 17's and not to go with 16".

P225/70R16 appears to be the prefered size when dropping down to a 16" on a 2007+ CRv..

Dealers go into cover your ass mode when it comes to changing tires sizes. If it is not the factory reccomended size most will not change it.

Depends on what year your crv is. Their is not one optimum size for all crv's. It's not necessary to go bigger or wider. All you are doing is adding more rotational weight which will decrease your acceleration & gas mileage. Best is to stay with your exact factory size. With snow tires you don't want to make your footprint as large as possible like you would for maximum grip with dry racing tires. In fact if you can get away with going a size narrower it would help your traction in deep snow. Example > Factory size 225/60. Snow tire size 215/60 or even a 195/60 if your rim is not too wide. You probably won't be able to go to a smaller rim size because they won't clear your brakes.

Solly I'm in the same boat.

I had an '03 V for 6 years and ran 15" snows (winter) and 16" summer tires.

I still have the 16" summer rims. They were off a Prelude SH--Honda rims in good shape.

The dealer and a tire store too tell me they'll work. They'll clear the calipers in the front. (mind you I haven't pulled a wheel to make sure; just word of mouth.)

Problem? No tire pressure sensors. So I understand I'll have a lighted display on the dash if I do that.

Bummer...didn't want to spend money there.

Alternative? New rims with tire pressure sensors. Probably 17".

I've done a lot of winter driving. Ski instructor for 35 years, all over Canada.
