i'd like to start off by saying hi to all, my name is chris van dulken and far from unfamiliar with imports.

i found a 2002 crv (gen2 ex i think) that has been in an accident and is being sold as parts. i'm buying whats left of vehicle (engine/trans/full drivetrain) for cheap. i have familiarized myself with the rtawd system so i know how it works.

so i have some questions since i couldn't really find out any more info elsewhere.

how strong is the mechanics of this system?
would i be able to use it for autocross launching from 3-4k rpm and get the back end to slide out on dry pavement if i wanted without damaging anything.

are there any differences between the 1g and 2g crv as far as the rtawd hydraulic system goes?

are the 2g transmissions and drivetrain stronger than 1g's?

does this model of crv comes with a k series (k24) engine?

i've been racing autocross for a couple years now and i love the sport. however fwd has its limitations under certain weather conditions, and since i'm mechanically capable i would love to take on a project like this and make the suby's i race with work alittle harder.

i have 2 cars to mod for this project, a 88 3g accord hatch, and a 93 civic eg... havent decided which one i'm gonna butcher for this.

thanks for your time.

This should be very interesting to you then...

Long story short, a buddy of mine retrofitted his '93 del Sol with the 4WD bits from a 1st-gen CR-V, and documented the whole process.

http://www.teamsolcal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5727

Here are the highlights:

Suspension and body mods are on page 1.
Fuel cell is installed on page 2.
The B20B arrives on page 4.
Engine swap is on page 5.
Trunk-mounted spare is on page 6.
Rear differential is installed on page 8.

thanks man, i seen another project like that done on a delsol, unfortunatly they didnt go into detail about the strength of the system. just going to have to assume its pretty strong, i havent been able to find any posts, articles of rtawd breaking.

here are some pics, one thing i am curious about is that the crv indeed does have a k24, these are i-vtec if i'm not mistaken right, this ones just missing the engine cover..

It is a K24A1 (02-07 CR-Vs) and yep, it's a i-VTEC. Check our Image Gallery. The post was by dlarsoncrv (Dlarsoncrv 2000 crv). The drive line seems to take it for him.:D

Rats. Just noticed that dlarsoncrv is running a 2WD/AT. Still might be interesting to you.

thanks mate...

decided my 3g accords gonna get this upgrade since the suspension in it was already butchered for my family sedan...

my eg will get my h22 swap.

i bet these k24 motors have a fair share of torque, cuz the h22 does.

ps: i'm an idiot and spelt my name incorrect... its suposed to be vector not vetor lol, no wonder i couldnt login. whowm do i contact to fix this. thanks in advance..

2RedV's can handle that for you. PM him or just let him read your post, which he will.:)
