Has anyone had a remote starter installed in the CRV? What kind and any problems?

I can't answer your question but wanted to welcome a fellow Pittsburgher to the forum!

There's a video of an installation over at College Hills Honda's website of what appears to be a real Honda accessory.

Hello, I put a Python remote starter in my new 07 EX-L/navi. I got it from Circuit City. So far it works great!

I've installed a 2way autostart remote starter just recently and so far no problems. I'm happy with its 3500 ft range, awesome. If you want to install one, get an expert to do it 'coz it's a bit complicated to bypass the factory alarm and immobilizer of v's.

Can anyone link to the video over at College Hills which details this?
I went through all their podcasts and didn't find a remote start install video for an 07 or 08 CRV.
I found the install directions on their website but a video would be even more helpful during an install.

College Hills videos (hopefully there was just one I missed):

I thought I watched a podcast of that install sometime before... but this is all I could find (http://www.collegehillshonda.com/artman2/publish/CR-V_38/index.shtml).

I'm trying to install my Scosche RSA2900F, which is actually made by CompuStar, that I pulled from my 04 Accord that I traded in on my new 08 CR-V. From all the sites where I've gotten wiring information from, the power lock is a blue wire coming from the drivers door behind the kick panel and the power unlock is a gray wire in the same place. Both are negative (-) polarity. When I check for continuity on the lock (blue) using my meter with a tone, the tone breaks when I hit lock and unlock. When I check the same on the unlock (gray), I get the same results. When I use the meter to test for voltage, on the lock (blue) I get ~12 volts when I lock it and ~3 volts when I unlock it. When I test the same on the unlock (gray), I get ~12 volts when I unlock it and ~3 volts when I lock it. Did any of you guys who have done aftermarket installations have these same problems or does anyone have any advice. I was hoping to get this done over the Christmas holiday, but got too busy and this snag threw me off, now it's the cold season and I'm cold :).

Another, somewhat related question. Once, if ever, I get my keyless/alarm/remote start done with my aftermarket unit that I absolutely love, I would want to get rid of my factory key with the FOB built in and get the regular key without the FOB, but not the valet key. When I called a dealer about this when I first did all this stuff to my 04 Accord, they told me that I would cost me about $135/key and they would have to reprogram all the keys that I already has as well which would cost even more. Does anyone know 1) if I can buy keys else somewhere reasonable (like $20 reasonable) and 2) how do program them?

Thanks in advance. I can't tell you guys how great this forum is. I'm planning on ordering my fog lights this month after someone posted the link to the DIY videos from College Hills Honda. Friggen sweet!

O.K., I figured out the lock and unlock wires. I was on the wrong ones. There are these obscenely thin wires in that same bundle, angel-hair wires if you will. I found the blue and gray ones that are my lock and unlock. I won't be able to use t-tap connectors on them cause they're so thin, but no big deal :). My next question is the factory disarm wire. My wiring sheets say it is in that same bundle of wires and is brown. I found three brownish wires, one of which is another "angle-hair" wire, also with a negative (-) polarity. My current problem is none of those three wires are showing continuity when I disarm from the key FOB. Any advice on this and I'm still hopeful for answers on my earlier question on non-valet keys without the FOB built in. Thanks again.

You may not have many takers on your questions since Honda offers a remote start as a dealer-installed option now. It works properly with the immobilizer and valet key. Some after-market systems require you to leave the valet key hidden inside the vehicle!

I'll just use a transponder adapter. They are programmable and pretty easy to work with. BypassKit (http://www.bypasskit.com/) makes some great stuff. The PKH34 is the one for my CR-V. Thanks.

O.K., I think I've found something to help make my life easier. IDATALINK (http://www.idatalink.com/) has a nice piece of hardware that will help with all the factory alarm and door switches. The ADS-DLSL HA (http://www.idatalink.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=11) will give me a relatively simple way of getting my task of installing my keyless/alarm/remote start installed. I should just have to tap the factory lock and unlock (which I've already identified), hood switch (which I've already run), and the keydata, SWC, and ingnition (which are all coming right off of the ignition harness). The rest are some powers and grounds for everything and the relay for my starter disable. I've ordered my ADS-DLSL HA and hopefully I will get it and have time to work on it this weekend. I'll let everyone know. If this works as well as I'm hoping, this will make things a ton easier for people to add aftermarket keyless/alarm/remote start to their CR-V. Feedback still welcome :). Thanks.

O.K., I've done it. Aside from tidying up a bajillion wires (I made up that number), I have everything working. The IDATALINK ADS-DLSL HA worked like a champ, but only after we got in touch with the company about a problem with the firmware. It may just have to do with the newness of my CR-V, but either way, they were prompt and I'm remote starting my way to happiness. I especially love it right now cause it's cold, especially for Tennessee. If anyone out there is trying to do aftermarket keyless/alarm/remote start, I recommend the ADS-DLSL HA. I also recommend finding a quality installer cause this experience is not for the faint of heart :). Thanks.

It looks like DEI is way on top of the game again, has anyone installed the Responder LE yet? ... http://www.directed.com/ResponderLE/ http://www.directed.com/images/responderle_images/technology_n_functionality_r15_c3.jpg
