Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else got charged XM radio fees for NOT calling them and cancelling.

I sent them a check for 3 months of service but I didn't realize i had to call them to cancel after. Now they are sending me bills and past due amounts were forwarded to a collection agency????

Any help?

Sorry this happened. Like it or not, the XM service agreement cleary states that subscription renewal is automatic, and that you must contact them to cancel. Perhaps you can call them and work it out.

I'm still in the 90-day free trial period and was surprised and disappointed at the amount of advertising on what I thought was supposed to be commercial-free radio. Is this the way satellite radio always has been, or have they slowly allowed advertising to creep in? Although it's more enjoyable than commercial radio, for $155.40/year, I can buy a nice variety of CDs and downloads to expand my own commercial-free collection. I'll enjoy it while it lasts, but can't justify the cost.

The MUSIC channels are commercial free.

Yep. Other than 5 (?) or so channels that are funded by Clear Channel, the music channels are all commercial free. I listen to XM 81 (Dance), XM 27 (Cinemagic / Movie Soundtracks), XM 8 (80s), and XM 44 (Fred - 80s Alternative), and *never* hear commercials. Ever. Unless it's a quick break in for programming on that particular channel (i.e., telling me of a particular show coming on that afternoon, or over the weekend).

I love listening to the 80s channel, and hearing the original America's Top 40. Casey Kasem goes to commercial, and then is back immediately (ie, there is no commercial!)

I listen to the baseball channels often, and there are commercials on those channels. I don't listen to the talk radio channels, but I'm guessing there are commercials on those channels, too.

I know thats what I think about Satellite Radio it's a bit pointless I would love XM for some talk stations but for music why? I have a 10,000 track music collection I wish the CD changer held 300 CD's and had a digital readout for some reason I don't like using my iPod in the car and I figure a system like sync would just bring headaches and more distraction than just pushing 2 or 3 buttons

Yep, that's what I did. When I called the rep kept asking me for a promo code; I just told her "it's all over the internet" and she finally let me have it for the $77.00.
