What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of each brand?

There are disadvantages to both from the prospective of wind drag and how it influences the overall MPG. The 2007 and newer designs have reduced the wind drag coefficient by 12% over the 2006 models. The use of side window wind deflectors for effects is one thing, but if you only want to shade, the interior use of window tint on the inside is better. The laws say you can't use a driver hiding tint as when an officer of the law approaches you her/she wants to know if you are going to injure or threaten them with a weapon. The use however of partial deep tint can be done at the top eye level for sun shading, as long as the rest of the window is not deep shaded to see in. The effect of this type of shading is unique and simular to partial deep shaded windshieds at top. Some people like the rain stopping the outside units give, for fresh air and ventilation. In the sunny southern climates most of the year windows are closed and fresh air is via the opening of the interior vents to outside air which upon getting into traffic with fumes requires closing. The outside side window units also take a beating in some car washes. I say stay stealth don't use them.

I am mainly looking to keep rain/snow out. I like to keep the window open about 1 inch for ventilation and the CR-V lets a lot of rain in.
