2008 LX Artic Blue with Splash Guards 10 miles on it. Couldn't release until they went from 2 miles to 10. Required by Honda???

Got it for $19,482 out the door please don't tell me I overpaid

Never knew they didn't come with roadside assistance, used to it with other cars

This board is great !

I was curious as to how you got a LX "out the door" at $19,4something which is below invoice? Did you have a trade in ?? What I can tell from Edmunds and other similar sites is that invoice is approx $19,900 for a 2WD LX ....

Thanks

some states don't have to pay sales tax. they probably live in one of those states.

No trade. I read on one of the boards to go in at $1,000 under invoice and hold firm as long as you can. Invoice reportedly with destination was $19,892.

I started at $19,000. They laughed at me at first when I got up to leave they came back at $20,200. I went up to $19,200 and they said $19,800. I said my final offer with destination, splash guards, was $19,450. They said give us a $32 doc fee. I said sold.

They claim it was $442 under invoice and I got their hold back. I told them they had ad marketing money and that if it bothered them to much not to do it.

After it was done and the Sales Manager was out of the area the 23 year old salesman told me he gets $200 and the dealership probably didnt make money. It had come in off the truck the night before and had some kind of foam on it to protect it. Dealer probably had no holding costs etc.

Where I am at all taxes and licensing are paid directly at the Department of Motor Vehicles

Again it is a beautiful car and you have all been helpful. Thanks Dorothy

I was questioning the fact that they could not release it with less than 10 miles. That is a new one to me.

How did they put the extra 8 miles on it?

I have never had a dealer buckle when I left. I think they were glad to see me go.

After talking to the Honda tech when I bought mine. The PDI requires a minimum of 10 miles to be done properly, and even then, 12-14 is better. When I took delivery, mine had 16, 12 on the clock, and a 4 mile test drive by yours truly before I'd sign the papers.

Test drive smart I've never done that on a new car and fortunately never had a problem.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody !

Congratulations on your new CR-V.

But what you were told is total BS. If it had 12 miles on it before you test drove it, you can bet someone else tested it before you.

Yep, BS. When I bought my 07 EX-L, it was sitting on the lot still in shrinkwrap on the hood, fenders, seats, etc. I had test drove another one, but bought mine without ever sitting in it. When I picked it up after PDI, washing, etc., it had 4 miles on it.

if you look at the little PDI booklet the tech fills out, there's actual distances required to drive to get the car's ECU etc setup correctly. Also, I watched the car come off the truck, went into the tech's hands, went through it's PDI, and then I test drove it.

So other than the tech and the truck driver, my car hadn't been driven.

It was driven on a test track complete with specially placed bumps, etc. right out of the factory. One of the forum members works at Honda in Ohio and has seen the new V's driven in a very spirited manner (high RPM's), sometimes for as little as 2 miles and he said that sometimes they received more miles. Depended upon any issues that the test driver may have noticed. Your new CR-V has already seen redline on the tach a few times before you ever get it.

That's not what I meant. This vehicle came to the dealer with 2 miles on the odpmeter. Check the initial post.

It was test driven by potential buyers or just lookers.

And Honda only takes samples on the test track. Certainly not every vehicle. It is an interesting track. I've been there several times.
