How mechanically minded/handy are you? Have you checked for spark? Pull the distributor cap and check the cap and rotor too. Go thru all the basic steps to insure to check spark and fuel.
hint: If you fill out your location in your profile, it will help people out. You could be anywhere in the world and Honda makes many variations of the CR-V.

sounds like it's starving for fuel, check the fuel filter/fuel line.

ok i have a 98 and am currently going through the same thing, except that occasionally it does start, but will die after a couple minutes. it will randomly seem like its choking and i would have to rev it to keep it alive. i was suspecting it was something with the fuel, but wasn't sure. i know it's about time to change the o2 sensor, but don't know if the sensor is causing these symptoms.
has anyone had this issue/experience? i would like to fix it myself, but if its something i can't handle, im gonna have to tow it to the shop.:(

Reminds me of a fuel problem. Start with the fuel filter and move on to the fuel pump. The 88 Accord I had began having fuel pump problems and acted the same way. Unfortunately i was on a trip. I pulled the pump and by tapping a few times it would resume. Replaced it before I could really get stranded.

yea i also have a 92 accord that suffered from the same problem. i'll try out the fuel filter. don't have any experience on reaching the fuel pump, so i hope it wouldn't come to that.

I also had a similar problem - not this - where my collant temp sensor started giving out faulty readings. Works fine now!

You just don't hear of plugged filters on a first gen V.

The link posted above refering to the ignition switch may well be the source of the problem.
I have just bought a Jap 1995 CR-V and it was fine for a couple of days, then it died - whilst indicating. Mechanic came out and confirmed a flat battery. Fine. However I had to rev it to get it going, and put this down to being low on fuel - maybe some crap in the lines etc.
However next morning turn ignition drop into R and it the car cuts out. Again rev it up on ignition and it idles below 1k revs. Drive off and it dies again about to turn a corner - indicator on. Get it to garage and they replace the ignition switch. Since then no probs. Additional if you wiggled the key it would dim the dash and cut out. This doesn't happen once the new ignition switch is in.
If you are experiencing this get it checked, don't mess about. The car will cut out at anytime. you don't want that at 100kmh with a truck up your back!
