I had the pleasure of going on a trip from Northern Virginia to Bowling Green Kentucky to go to the National Corvette Museum and tour the Assembly Plant. This was one great experience which I would recommend to anyone to participate if given the opportunity. I drove down with some long time family friends who purchased a 2008 Corvette Convertible and chose the Museum delivery option. With this option, you will get a private tour of the factory which is more in depth than the fast moving public tour. I was just amazed on how everything came together so quickly and with the correct parts. My favorite thing was the ability to "give birth" to a brand new shinny silver Corvette by being the first one to start the engine with a push of a button. Let's just say that I wanted to keep driving but I realize that I wouldn't have gotten that far despite being in a sports car. I truly learned a great deal and would love to visit any other manufacturer's plant. Does any one know if Honda provides tours of their plants or who has been one? It is truly a great learning experience and enjoyable option for us car guys.

I agree with you 100% on the experience of it all. My wife is from Janesville, WI where the largest GM plant is located. Her grandfather gives tours there since he retired about 15 years ago.

He gave us a "special" tour last time I was in town and it was truly amazing. I would say I've got a little more in depth perspective on the auto-worker thing being that everyone in that town/all her family has worked or works for GM currently. Auto plants are really really neat to visit and I know that most do give tours.

I beleive Nissan does free tours as well, I am not sure about any Honda plants though. I'd love to go on all/any I could. It sure was a neat experience.

I have been to GM and Ford its amazing how fast they can build a vehicle although Being GM and Ford the cars probably break just as fast. I am going to Italy in a few months I really am going to try to go to Ferrari if they do factory tours and Lamborghini but I am not sure if lambos are still made in Italy since their takeover by Audi I find that was the main reason I bought the V over a Murcielago LP640 :D
