I'm waiting for my new 2008 CR-V EX-L to arive at the dealership, so naturally I'm accessory shopping. Here's what I'd like to get, but what I'm curious about is if anyone installed these themsleves, and how hard was it? I can save over $600 by doing it myself. Honda does not seem to provide downloadable directions for anything, otherwise I'd have a better idea.

Also, if anyone knows of any deals out there on accessory purchases, or people that make CR-V accessories that are just as good as OEM but cheaper, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Fog Lights ($319)
Tailgate Spoiler ($289)
Roof Rack ($289)
Moonroof Visor ($149)
Front Splash Guards ($63)
Body Side Molding ($229)

I can only provide an answer concerning the roof rack. To get good instructions as well as podcasts about installations go to www.collegehillshonda.com . This is where I ordered my roof rack. All that is needed is a torque wrench and torx 40 socket (purchased at home depot). The most time consuming part was to tighten and then remove the nuts in order to remove the paint from the screw threads in order to get a tight seal. It was extremely easy to do. Good luck.

Welcome to the club. Check out the HandA website. They have genuine Honda accessories at reduced prices. The also have downloadable instruction sheets from Honda that you can click on as you view the accessory. Good luck with your new purchase.

Thanks, I was just there and downloaded all the directions. Like anything, some seem harder than others. Have you bought parts from there before? Even with the shipping, it's less expensive than Honda's quoted prices. Are they real OEM or copies?

Fog Lights ($319) - pretty involved... remove bumper, run wiring harness, replace light stalk on the steering column... definitely the hardest and most involved of these accessories
Tailgate Spoiler ($289) - drilling several holes, lining it up right, tightening a few nuts, about sums it up. make sure to buy some touchup paint for the bare metal edges around the holes you drill
Roof Rack ($289) - pry up the 4 covers, use the special thread tapping nut, 8 bolts later and you're ready to roll
Moonroof Visor ($149) - not 100% positive, but likely double sided tape or a couple of screws for this, don't know personally, as I don't like the way they look etc.
Front Splash Guards ($63) - it's literally like 6 self tapping screws... maybe 30 minutes to install
Body Side Molding ($229) - stick on double side tape to put them on, longest/hardest part is the measuring to get them on correctly

rename this .txt file to .html to view all of the suppliers for OEM honda parts & accessories I typically browse for the best deal

If you're unsure of yourself with installation, I'd say, let the pros do the install on fogs and spoiler as they both require drilling into the vehicle. the rest are pretty easy DIYs.

Try Ebay being you have an 08 it is going to be tough, however, 280 is a lot for a roof rack I found one for 140 on ebay also salvageyards may be good.

HandA is a Honda dealer in California. They sell Honda OEM at discounted prices. I have bought oil filters and floormats and have no complaints. They are one of the sponsers for this club and quite often run specials for the club members. I have never seen any complaints on the site regarding HandA's service. If you are not certain a part is OEM, email them and ask.

Just picked up 08 AWD CR-V EX L White with nav on Thursday. Had ordered H&A accessories when I ordered car 6 weeks ago. Quality fit on all items . Window visors, body sides, door edge guards, sun roof visor & rear spoiler . Waiting for fogs & hood deflector. Really looks nice & easy install.

I think that the Genuine Honda Accessories are well worth the extra price. They work well and look best. You can often get the dealer to lower all parts and accessory prices by 20%.

Fog Lights - Big Job - 5+ hours

Roof Rack - Easy Job - Less than 1 hour

Front Splash Guards - Very Easy - Less than 1/2 hour
