View Full Version : Radio controls on steering wheel

I asked this question over on the "Interior" forum. Thought I'd ask here in case there are other answers (fingers crossed):

I have an '04 that I've added several options to (bought on ebay):

Roof rack
cargo tray
cargo cover
floor mats
trailer hitch
keyless entry

I noticed that the cruise control pod on the steering wheel appears to be a bolt on. That got me wondering if the radio control pod could be bolted on and if there is an existing wiring harness in the steering column for it.

The keyless entry wiring was all there already and involved only plugging a box into the existing wiring. I've heard that the trailer wiring is also pre-wired.

So, is the wiring for the radio controls already in the steering column and if so, how involved would it be to add a control pod to the steering wheel?

Thanks much!

On the "Interior" forum, a responder had asked at a dealer about this and was told the wiring is not pre-wired in the steering column. That seems a little counter-intuitive that trailer wiring and keyless entry wiring would be part of the standard wiring harness, but cruise and radio controls are not.
anyway, thanks again.

They aren't already there, and you would need the HU out of a 2005+ (G2.5 CR-V).

Just replace the OEM HU with an aftermarket HU and enjoy a remote as well as better sound quality :)

The trailer wiring is not already there, just a connector to allow you plug in the pricey factory wiring module.
