The latest result of my ongoing feud with the deer population of Southeastern Pennsylvania. This is the second deer I have hit in 10 years - must be from the same deer family. *heh*

Are you monting the deer or the CR-V.

I hope no one was hurt!!!!! I have not hit a deer but I did get a range bull in the Texas panhandle about 30 years ago. like a deer they can do some damage.

Luckily, it was just me in the car and I was already slowing to exit the highway when I hit the deer. I was probably already down to 25 mph. CRV took it like a champ. The state trooper who responded said, "The engine is running. No fluids leaking. You can drive it home if you like." :D

A buddy of mine who is an ex-state trooper said it was "driveable" because the difference between driveable and un-driveable is about 16 pages of paperwork.

Drivable with that windshield? A little tough to see out of that one!

Anyway, Welcome to the forum! :)

Hope you get it repaired soon.

I am glad you didn't get hurt. It could have been much worse. I haven't hit a deer but I've been known to slam into the middle divider once or twice. :) Indeed, welcome to the forum. I hope your CR-V will be thoroughly examined and appropriate repair performed.

No damage to the V. The Safelite windshield guy that came to my house to repair it said that if there was any frame/body damage he would not be able to give me a warranty on the windshield but after closer inspection he found nothing. Plus, the damage was on the side of the windshield where my PA. inspection stickers were. Since the stickers were rendered unreadable, I could not get them re-issued and had to have it re-inspected. Luckily she passed (well, I had to replace a rear license plate bulb to pass. :) )

At the risk of nagging, are you saying besides the windshield, there was 0% damage to the rest of the car? No dents in the pillar, or on the side or fender, or anything? Thanks.

No real damage. I have "hoof" dents and scratches on the hood and even a spot of blood. The plastic part of the inside pillar on the driver side popped off but the winshield technician simply had to pop it back into place.

If you can call it luck, I guess I got real lucky. The deer was in a mid-air jump when I hit her. I swear as I think about it more, if in that split second I decided to turn into the deer, I bet she would have cleared my car or maybe just caught a hoof on the side mirror or something.

Wow, that's something... how did the deer flew to your windshield without causing any major damage to your bumpers? can't see any bumper flaw over here... anyways, V's are tough!

Not only are they tough, I have seen a lot of pictures over the years of V's that have literally committed suicide to themselves so as to protect the occupants. Meaning that the V properly crumples in a bad accident to absorb the impact and the occupants walk away from the crash. They are very well designed and built vehicles.
