I'm considering buying a 2008 cr-v. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the cargo space in inches, with the two back seats up (i.e., four people seated). Thanks very much.

Here's the cubic feet measurements for starters...not sure about inches each way:
Cargo Volume (cu. ft., seat up/down)
LX: 35.7 / 72.9
EX: 35.7 / 72.9
EX-L: 35.7 / 72.9
Is there anything specific you are hoping to haul back there?
Good luck and welcome to the forum, by the way!

Thanks for info. I'm really trying to get inches, though. I want to know if large beach chairs will fit.

From tailgate to rear seats (rear seats up and pushed back) = 31"
From tailgate to rear seats (rear seats up and pushed forward) = 37"
Cabin width = 53" (50" between the two ledges that hold the cargo cover)
Cabin height at interior light position = 37"
These are rough measurements taken just now in my '08 EX-L. Your experience may vary. Don't forget the tailgate slopes in, so you won't have the fill 31/37" a the top of the cargo space.
Yes, that's 37 cubic feet - it's still quite a bit of room. More than enough for a couple of beach chairs. :)

Thanks very much. Looks like my stuff will fit, with room to spare!

I heard there were like 3 steps to make cargo room. Is that correct?

If what you mean by three steps is:
1) Slide the rear seats forward
2) Tilt the rear seatbacks forward flush to the seats
3) Slide the rear seats back, unlatch them and fold them up
Then yes, there are 3 steps to making more room! :D

Why do you have to slide the rear seats forward in step 1, then slide them back in step 3? In the manual the first step is to slide the rear seats back.

Yes, that's correct. I was thinking of the three ways (and thus three steps you'd take) to increase the amount of cargo space you have - each step getting you progressively more space. In retrospect it probably sounds a lot better as:
1) Slide rear seats fully back
2) Release rear seatbacks with pull-up straps and fold them flush with the seats.
3) Unlatch the rear seats with the lower pull straps and fold them up.
Silly me. :D

When you slide the seats all the way back, you can then fold them without removing the headrests.
On some vehicles (my daughter's ex-RAV4 and our Grand Caravan) you had to remove the headrests, then put them somewhere...
BTW the sliding rear seats are a great feature...they often allow things to fit WITHOUT folding the seatbacks at all!
