4WD in Reverse?

Here in Seattle we just got a little snow this week. I have a steep driveway to my garage and I usually back the V up into it. I couldn't with the snow covering the driveway this time, but I could get up there head in.

Question: Does RT4WD only works in forward gears? Or there was some other reasons on this situation?

RT4WD is designed to work in both forward and reverse gears.

The link given by lizzurd is about as good as they get. It lacks only a hydraulic schematic and the inclusion of the cam rings added in 2005 to activate the clutch pack a little quicker when in a forward gear.

Hopefully the reference is complete enough to convince an owner that YES, the RT4WD System DOES WORK in reverse.:)

All of a sudden this question is being asked in multiple forums and always by owners from the west coast. Do you have different snow from the rest of us, some unique quality that does not allow traction in reverse?:eek:

Thanks a lot for the useful information. I think we have the same snow here from heaven too. There must be other physics in play to make it tougher to back up a hill then forward.:)

Your quite right, of course. I suspect that weight transfer is playing an important roll here.
