I got my CR-V 2007 serviced at Honda Dealer and ended up paying $257 incl $140 for the labor. Does it seem like the right amount?
Is this going to be the average price for all subsequent regular scheduled services - i.e 30K, 45K etc?

Any thoughts on how to minimize this cost?

Why don't you tell us exactly what was included in your 15,000 mile service before we tell you that you probably paid too much to your dealer.;) I have an 07 and don't know what you are talking about with this type of service as all things that are needed to be completed are displayed on the MMS. Ways to keep these costs down...do the work yourself, most things are very simple to work on.

Your location updated in the user profile will also help us give you some better (local) advice is possible. :)

Well, The MMS indicator displayed 1B on my dashboard. The service person gave a list of things that he did including oil change, washer plates (??), brake check, inspections, replaced some filters and wiper blade parts. I live in Northern Virginia if that helps.

I was told by few ppl that since I bought a new car it is better to get it serviced by dealership. Also getting it serviced at Honda will add to re-sale value of the vehicle!

Maintenance Minder B Scheduled Maintenance for 1B
Recommended service for your 2007 Honda CR-V:

Replace engine oil*1 and oil filter

Inspect front and rear brakes

Check parking brake adjustment

Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots

Inspect suspension components

Inspect driveshaft boots

Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)

Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids

Inspect exhaust system#

Fuel lines and connections#

*1: If the message "SERVICE" does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year.

#: See information on maintenance and emissions warranty on page 262 of your owners manual

Independent of the maintenance items in the information display, replace the brake fluid every 3 years.

Inspect idle speed every 160,000 miles (256,000 km).

Adjust the valves during services A, B, 1, 2, or 3 only if they are noisy.

A bit more history would be helpful to us, how many miles do you have on your CRV? Are you following the MMS system, if so when was you first oil change? What EXACTLY was per your invoice?

Personally, if you only have 15,000 miles on the vehicle it seems premature that you will need "inspections" of so many items. As for the filters...I did replace both the cabin air filter and the engine filter at about this mileage. Honestly, most of the things done can really very easily be done yourself and save yourself a lot of money.

IMHO I think that the dealer sold you stuff you may not have needed.
