I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. I own a 2000 CRV that I use to deliver mail from. I would love to get a conversion kit put on her, but the only thing I've found pre-fab, I don't like. For many reasons. Can anyone help steer me in the right direction? Where to look, questions to ask... that sort of thing? Any and all input appreciated.

A mail carrier by my uses a 1st gen CR-V but simply does the driving from the right seat. He says it is easy because of the flat floor and easy access to the gas and brake pedals. He has removed the center table as well.

Hi mailchick,

Over at the EOC we have had a few discussions on this subject and have found a few ideas.

Found this page going though some of those links. The first picture is a converted CR-V. Might be exactly what you're looking for.

I sure hope they're disabling the passenger airbags. That conversion contraption can't feel good getting thrown at you by the airbag in a collision.

what I would do is like any other convertion, find a rhd front clip from japan, remover the dash, and motor, reweld the firewall and reinstall the padal assembly, brake ststem, dash, motor ect. If done right you can fetch a pretty penny for it when your done also!

Wouldn't it make more sense to just import a V from England?

Not if you can do the work. it's cheaper to do the conversion, then you also dont have to spend all the time and money registering it.

Yeah but HID's and auto headlights that would be so worth the extra 30 grand :D

Thank you to ALL of the wonderful responses. First off, I am a woman, hence the name "mail-chick" so I'm not that handy with a welder or any other tool...:D I've checked out postalthings.com as well, but their stuff is to big, for lack of a better word, chunky. A fellow carrier has one on his car that I did look at. I didn't like it at all. If he ever wrecks, it will most likely rip his left leg off at the knee.I found a few pics on ebay and took them to a friend of my husband who is mechanically inclined. He said he would try to put something together for me. At this point, I'm only a sub at the post office, so I don't make the big bucks...yet:p oh... and if anyone is willing to pay for an import from England for little 'ole me, then bring it on...lol seriously, any information would be a big help. I have been on the net researching as well. Thanks to all.

you can always also find old postal jeeps that are rhd on ebay. Check www.modifiedautotrader.com for rhd's also.
