Owners Manual says 4.4 quarts with filter. Other on-line resourses say 5.3.

Which is correct?

The '05-'06 Helm shop manual (official Honda) says oil capcity for an oil & filter change is 4.4 US quarts on the 2.4 engine. (page 2-5)

Without a filter it's 4.2 quarts. At an engine overhaul, it's 5.6 qts.

Bear in mind when looking at Internet spec pages, that the Generation 2 V was sold in many countries with the 2.0 liter engine.

If you put the CRV on ramps, you will get almost 5 quarts out. I've changed the oil 4 times on ramps and putting in five quarts to get the level to the uppermost circle. Seems that the angle of the oil pan on the ramps gets that last 1/2 quart out. Anyone else using ramps.

This may open up another can of worms but how many miles do you have on your CRV and at what mileage are you changing the oil?

I use ramps, and find that I need to put in just over 4.6 quarts of oil.

Who wants to bet that a dealer or oil change shop will always nail you for 5 quarts?

I have almost 32K on my CRV that I bought new 10months ago. I have always changed the oil myself using ramps and the CRV doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. I know the vehicle should take 4.4 quarts, but because the pan is on an angle I'm getting 5quarts. This should be optimum because you are getting all the oil out. Anyone else using ramps?
