comments / suggestions??I guess you can call this a "feature" of the Honda auto tranny design. They all do it - cars and SUV's. The faster you go, the louder it gets.

Reverse uses straight cut gear teeth (spur gears). That's why they whine.
Ops......Just realized that the OP has an AT. My response was directed at a MT's whine in reverse. I have a one track mind when it comes to automotive transmissions. ATs are different animals. Gear whine could be lots of different things.

Normal, completely normal.

If I am not mistaken, It will not matter weather its an MT or an AT, the reverse gearing will be the same type (due to production costs).
This means that both the MT and the AT have straight cut gears for reverse.

yeah its wining due to the fact that it is a straight cut. most cars have them for reverse since you dont need as much clutch focus (since your supposed to be concentrating on where your going) or in an autos case as much fluid pressure and a lower release point on the Torque converter so a straight cut gear is a bit easier on the tranny with the input shaft spinning backwards
