comments, suggestions? Should I get any old rain guards, does the at floor mats fit a manual besides the passenger side? Check out these links and let me know if these products suck, or if the price is too good to be true. BTW can I keep hood dampeners?

I have been dealing on eBay since the 2nd year it was running....and learned some tough lessons.

BUT -- You can get some fabulous deals -- sometimes you can't believe how cheap some things can be purchased. Most eBayers are good folks...

A few things to remember:

While there are no guarantees, the posted feedback is generally your best way to evaluate a seller. Simply stay away from ANYONE with a low feedback %

Do not make deals "off-line" -- you lose any protection eBay offers against fraud

Always compare pricing.....often eBay articles end up selling for more than the retail or "street" prices....(it's quite easy to get caught-up in the bidding)

Make sure to understand the terms of sale (particularly shipping costs)

Don't forget places like slhondaparts.com which are real Honda dealers that sell parts at a discount.

Just looked at the weatherstrip. Why do you want this? Is yours peeling? It can easily be painted. Did it to mine.

I have those red/clear taillights on my '98 V and they're a high-quality item. I didn't buy them on ebay though. I bought them from Matrix Racing around four years ago...I think that was their name anyway. I know I didn't pay $150 shipped for mine...more in the $110 range if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't waste my money on the weatherstrip. They're overpriced for what they are and it isn't that hard to strip the originals. The originals are covered with a thin layer of rubber which hardens and cracks/peels over time. You can(as 2RedV's suggests) simply paint over them with Krylon's Fusion paint or Rustoleum's plastic paint but if they're peeling that won't do you much good. If they only have small cracks then simply painting over them will work.

Here's what I did.

I left them in place on the vehicle(since they're already fastened down...you can obviously remove them and clamp them down to a work bench if you want to) and I put down several layers of masking tape where the weatherstrip meets the paint. The last thing I wanted to do was slip and possibly scratch or gouge the paint. I then carefully used a razor knife to scrape away the peeling,dried-out rubbery coating. I removed all of it but I made sure not to touch the rubber section which seals against the window. You want to leave that section intact. It's a little time-consuming but it's better than shelling out over $100 for all four pieces.

I then removed them from the vehicle and simply spray painted them with Krylon's Fusion(black satin). I've noticed that the Fusion paint tends to fade quite a bit over a year so I simply remove them from the vehicle and repaint them every year.

I just bought the same red/clear tail lights for my CR-V from eBay and I'm waiting for them to arrive at my door. As soon as they're on, I'll post some pics.

Nice to hear! You'll love 'em.

Now you need to purchase the silver/chrome bulbs on ebay so your clear lens remain that way. It's not legal(in most states anyway) to have a white blinker and if you install an amber bulb(to make it legal) the clear lens will then have an amber tint to it....ruining why you went with the clear lens in the first place.

I used this ebay seller:

eBay Motors: 7440 silver chrome marker turn signal bulbs stealth (item 300200082645 end time Feb-23-08 08:57:10 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7440-silver-chrome-marker-turn-signal-bulbs-stealth_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33717QQihZ020QQ itemZ300200082645QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

And while you're there buying the 7440's you might as well pick up a set of 1157's for the front blinkers if you want to rid your 1st gen. V of the amber (at least when they're not lit :)

Paint them. I stripped and painted mine without any problems. Looks much better and you can't notice unless you really, really look at it. You'll spend a ton on new ones.

Yup. I couldn't agree more. Those things are seriously overpriced to replace and you can barely tell the difference if you take the time to prep them properly.

thanks guys, just did my tint today, painted the brakes, and fixed some little things like the rear diff and the intake. Picked up some other paint for the side trim, window trim and the bumpers ect.

Where can I get black housing headlights?

I've seen them on ebay many times. I haven't checked recently though.

Nah, the lens isn't tinted, it just looks like what it is...a clear lens with an amber bulb behind it.

Yeah, I know. I had mine that way for awhile and I hated it. Like you said, the entire housing doesn't turn amber but enough of it does(it's worse at certain angles) to pretty much ruin the reason why I went with the clear lens in the first place. The silver/chrome bulbs solved that problem perfectly...in the front and rear blinker housings. I had thought about going with LED's until I came across the silver/chrome bulbs on ebay. The silver/chrome bulbs made more sense to me.

I've used those bulbs since they came out. I saw them at a race and they said they were just about to be released, so i got a few pairs. The originals from apc actually were a very dark "jdm" orange which looked cool. Theay are discontinued now, the ones that I always used.
