Hi
Eleven days until I take delivery can't wait. :)
I was wondering which products for car care are everyones favourites.
I was thinking about polish, wheel care, interior care, chrome polishing etc.
Does anyone have any particular care or routines they swear by.
Many thanks for any ideas.

I want to get it dirty, that's the most fun.
What's the point of having a continuously dirty car, if it's just to prove I go off road I wouldn't worry. :)
I want to have fun, soft off roading, but I want to care for my car longterm.

Well said. I wish you lived in Vermont instead of across the pond. I'm still looking for someone to partner with, off-road. It's even more fun when someone is there to pull me out when I get too brave.

I like washing my car and waxing it regularly. Somewhere, I read about Rejex which is like a polymer coating. I've since purchased a bottle and am using it on my cars. The advantage is that you don't have to apply it as often as wax and that dirt and soil sort of fall off or wash off a lot easier than wax. I can tell you that on my other SUV, it does seem like it is retaining shine much longer than the regular wax. You might want to check it out and see for yourself and do some research. Here is the website that tells some information. You can buy it in True-Value hardware or other places in the WEB. RejeX®: So Slick, Bugs Can't Stick! (http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html)
Welcome and enjoy your time here in the forum.

You can't go far wrong with Autoglym stuff
I use their Bodywork Shampoo conditioner, followed by their Special Resin Polish, then as a final layer I use Collinite 845 wax
When I wash my V i use the '2 Bucket Method' which as the name implies uses 2 buckets, one contains your nice soapy wash mix and the other is just nice clean fresh warm water, in the bottom of the rinse bucket I have a 'Grit Guard' fitted, when you rinse your mitt give it a quick rub over the guard and the grit comes off and stays in the bucket out of harms way
I use a Meguairs Lambswool wash mitt for the main body panels and a cheapo chenille wash mitt for the lower sills and wheel arches, then to dry it I use a Poorboys waffleweave drying towel, much better than a chamois
To apply and buff the the polish/wax I use microfibre cloths, no need to use mega expensive ones just do the CD check to make sure they don't scratch your clearcoat (cd check-rub the cloth over a cd using the same pressure as you would when polishing your car,if it scratches the cd then bin the cloth)
Finally for cleaning the windows I use Tesco own label car window cleaner, it comes in a trigger spray and only costs £1.99, it does take a bit of buffing to get a nice smear free finish
If you do decide to use the Autoglym special resin polish then use it sparingly as too much makes it very hard to buff off and it leaves a load of white dust which can be a PITA
Interior wise I just use a damp microfibre cloth to wipe plastic panels, any particularly heavy dirty parts I just add a capful of Stardrops and rub a bit harder, floormats/carpets get a good hoovering and any nasty dirty spots I use a small scrubbing brush and the Stardrops mix, no need to soak them just dip the brush then shake any excess water off and scrub
HTH??:D

Being a car care nut all my life with over 30 years of experience (I used to detail my grandparents cars long before I could even drive) I pretty much exclusively use Griot's products. There are arguably better products here and there but their line is very high quality products and 100% comprehensive.
Car Care, Detail Supplies, Garage Organization, Car Accessories - Griot's Garage 800-345-5789 (http://www.griotsgarage.com/)
Good reading regardless of the products you use:
The Detailer's Handbook - Everyday and Storage - Car Maintenance - Griot's Garage (http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+maintenance/everyday+and+storage/the+detailer%27s+handbook.do?search=basic&keyword=handbook&sortby=newArrivals&page=1)
If you like there products, you could start with their kits: Car Care Kits - Griot's Garage (http://www.griotsgarage.com/category/car+care/car+care+kits.do)
I use the paint sealents on daily drivers and the best of show wax on my classic cars. The best of show wax is the hardest carnuba I have ever seen. But it is not for daily drivers unless owned by folks with obsessive/compulsive disorder. The first time I used it I applied it by orbital machine over the entire car and removed with a wax remover bonnet and the stuff would not budge. Tip for carnuba wax users... to get that last little bit off, lightly spritz with distilled water and remove with a micro fiber polishing cloth.
Never use a toothbrush to get out wax from crevices, leave the bath towels in the bath and the diapers in the nursery and the dish soap in the kitchen, always clay bar before waxing (I do it while the car is still wet after washing and this is the one time that my cars see dish soap, dawn is a favorite).
If there is a product available to the consumer and has been on the market for years, I have tried it.
