View Full Version : 215/75/15's on a 2000 CR-V
Hello all. First post. I just bought a 2000 CR-V and I noticed that there are a complete (well, not the spare) set of 215/75/15's on there, all pretty much brand new and in good shape (Firestone 380). I know that OEM is 205/70/15, so I'm wondering if this is problemmatic enough that I should be looking to replace them (possibly paid for by the dealer who sold the car to me?).
I do like the look and feel of the tire, and I do intend to take my CR-V on dirt roads in Baja at some point (Just replaced a '98 CR-V that travelled 800 miles into Baja, some of it on moonscape dirt roads and performed perfectly). But I'm worried about the ABS system and whatever else.

You shouldn't encounter any problems. There are many CR-V owners running that size. I'll bet they sure look great.
Yeah, they look great. Much better than the OEM.

No issues with anything. The bigger ones look good on there.
Post some pictures of that new-to-you V out in the dirt somewhere.

I agree with everyone. I always hated the wimpy-looking stock 205/70/15's on my '98 V so I went with 215/65/15's(on Alessio Rally wheels) when the original BFG's wore out in '01. When they wore out in '04 I went a little bigger with 215/70's. I really like the 215/70's but I'm seriously thinking about going with 215/75's the next time.

215/65/15 or 215/70/15 or 215/75/15 or 225/65/15
Diameter Difference: 1.97%
Diameter Difference: 5.07%
Diameter Difference: 7.95%
Diameter Difference: 3.85%
These are the numbers % difference and recommended is < 3%. I'm highly
leaning towards, 225/65/15 with just 0.85% increase in the dia.
Please comment. Ultimately, I think i'm coming to 2nd and 4th. Is there
any change increasing the height needed? I've not lowered my car.,and its
stock.
regards & your help/input is highly appreciated. I think folks here are way
more smart than the folks who really sell the wheels/tires! :-)

Friends,
This is my first post on this forum since I'm the proud new owner of a 2000 V in RED (a 5 speed too)! :D
I was also wondering if my new V could take P215/75R15s. I was looking at the Cooper Discoverers, white letter (heavier off-road treading). Questions: Will they rub? Will they be noisy? Will I lose much gas milage? Are they safe to have on (thinking about my 4 year old daughter)?
I take my V out on the beach, so I wanted more height and tread.
Thanks in advance for more helpful answers,
Matthew Paul

I just mounted and installed P215/75R15s on my 2000 V. First of all, they fit! Second, the ride is noticeably better than the factory 205/70s. Third, they make less, yes you heard right, LESS noise on the road. Last, they gave the V over 1 1/2" lift! :D
AND THEY LOOK WAY BETTER, ESPECIALLY WITH WHITE LETTERS!
