hi - first post here. tomorrow i'll be taking ownership of a new '08 CR-V ES-L w/ Nav. i'm quite the music/iPod/tech geek and am wondering if anyone has any currrent thoughts/advice on the above accessory. most things i've read and found on it in forums are from posts about 1-3 years ago - not much current stuff. is there one person that has this on their '08? one person that totally loves it and would swear by it? or anyone that would suggest another product? or... should i stick with the hookup that's in the center console and just navigate my iPod actually ON my iPod? thanks, much thanks... and i look fwd to lots of good stuff on this forum. proud to be a new owner....

same question here. i went to the apple store, but most of the new accessories Belkin/Griffen are selling are crap.

i don't want to have to rip out my head unit (it looks nice!)

Honda discontinued it just about a year ago. They didn't give an official reason but they tended to run into problems with needing new text to speach software when Apple would update the i-Pods software or firmware.

There were mixed reviews of it at the time. My boss added one to his Odyssey and thought it was fine, but I did hear from a few that didn't like it. The main drawback is it would lock out the i-Pods controls when it was connected.

There may still be some available out there but I would think the support for it could be limited.

There are aftermarket setups for doing the same thing (we have on from USA Spec on our site). Hopefully someone with some first hand experience will chime in with suggestions. We put one of the USA Spec adapters in the bosses daughters car and she likes it much better than the Honda one.

I actually really dig the set-up I have now. I bought this griffin thing - sorry don't know the official name - if someone wants to know let me know and I'll look it up - but it plugs into the charger in the center console. Actually I have a splitter coming out of that charger outlet so I can plug my phone in there too. Anyway, so it's plugged into the splitter and it has this little flexible arm that comes out, and has a slot for the iPod to just slide in. Works well, looks classy, charges the iPod, and plays excellent. And I can navigate on my iPod directly. Super easy, $50, don't have to take the car apart, sound is optimal.
