Where has Honda put the On-Board-Diagnostic version 2 (OBD2 or OBD II) connector inside the car please?
I am wanting to plug in a Scan Gauge II.

Scan Gauge II 3-in-1 Auto Computer -- $159.95 (http://pureenergysystems.com/store/Scan_Gauge/)

Thank you.

It's at the base of the stearing column, to the left or right, may have a plastic cover. Using Scangauge on my 2007 CV-V. I will go out and look at mine and send a follow-up.

Take your right hand and place at intersection of bottom of the dash and the center console. It is 3" to the left of that location at the edge. You will have to stand on you head to see it. USB cable tucks nicely around stearing column and I velcro the ScanGauge to top of column. Good Luck.;)

what software package are you using with that, and does it cope with Honda and / or CRV specific codes please?

I'd like to see some photos of the installation, as the Scanguage has been something I've been following since version one several years ago.

Although the 2008 CR-V I drive offers a lot of the information, I'd like to see or know more.

On a lot of new cars the liquid crystal display often has a number 'extra' or 'secret' functions. By following the procedure below, Can some confirm or deny whether the CRV also does this?

To Switch To Test Mode:

Place key into ignition
Press and Hold "Trip Reset Button"
Wait 2 secs
Turn key from 0 to 1
Wait 2 secs
Turn key from 1 to 2
Wait 2 secs
Normal LCD mode is displayed…
Wait 2 secs
"TEST" is displayed, and Sweep test is started (the stepper motors driving the speedo and tacho will 'rev' from 0 upto their maximum and something like "GAGE" will be shown on the LCD.

To Cycle Through Test Mode Menu:

Press the "Trip Reset Button" to cycle forward through the menu

To Exit From Test Mode:

Start Engine by turning ignition key from 2 back to 3
Stop Engine by turning ignition key from 3 back to 0
Remove Key

End of Procedure.

Note: You should be able to enter test mode without starting the engine. You are not likely to be able enter test mode with the engine already running -So take your time.

Why is the above important? Well if you can enter test mode, after cycling through the options you should be able to find a "dtc" flashing alternatively with "none" mode ("dtc" / "none"). This mode is for displaying real time Diagnostic Trouble Codes. And hell isn't a free coder reader useful?

Note it’s likely: That this system is only going to be real time (so no memory function)

Pulling the battery and fuses out will not remove your engine warning light.

Nor will pulling the battery and fuses out delete any saved dtc codes.

The car will need a special reader to do that, But you should have some idea from the dtc (if you can repeat the fault) what the problem might be. And all this cost you was nothing!

So again I ask, can someone confirm the above works?
