Quick question in case anyone has tried it, or knows please! :)

If you have something plugged into the aux in socket, it is turned off and you are listening to radio / CD...

If you then turn on the whatever plugged into aux, and hit play (on the device), does the head unit automatically switch to the aux in signal, or do you need to select it?

I'm thinking standalone satnav unit with a headphone socket, plugged into aux.
Sat nav says directions - would they automatically come out via the car speakers?

And would it then switch back to radio / CD when the sat nav stops talking?

It's a big ask from Honda I guess - depends how forward thinking they were...
(or how much they want to 'encourage' you to buy their built in sat nav ;) )

Hi

My experience is that most plug in Satnavs worth the money (Eg Garmin) will have a perfectly good speaker attached to the power cable that plugs into the cig lighter socket. I have no problem hearing mine. Therefore you should not need to plug your GPS into the Aux socket. Save it for your Ipod touch. :) (good bit of kit)

Most audio units need you to select the aux input in the same way you would switch between Cd player & radio. Its just another push button. Your CD player detects the input of a CD and switches to CD but not the Aux.

cheers - I was afraid that might be the case :(

The other half of the requirement was that said sat nav would also have blue tooth phone connection...

The idea being that when giving directions, or when holding a hands free phone conversation, there wouldn't be background music :(

but I thought it might be a big ask! :)

That where you need the onboard Honda sat nav with blue tooth phone connex. It will do all that for you but it will cost

My understanding is that the Aux needs to be selected
