I'm new to this forum. I purchased my 98 CRV new and have experienced very few problems in the past ten years. Recently I have been experiencing intermittent stalling. This usually occurs once or twice a month at normal road speed or just starting out. It has happened on both dry and wet days. I've replaced the fuel filter and checked and cleaned battery cables. I had new plugs and wires changed less than a year ago. I'm wondering if anyone else has had experience with a similiar problem.

Had your valves adjusted lately? Your Gen I CR-V has the B20B engine which likes valve checks/adjustments every 30,000 miles or so. Your owner's manual is incorrect (105,000 miles adjustment increments). Valves (exhaust) tightening (no clearance) sometimes presents as a stalling problem. If neglected long enough this issue can lead to serious head damage and very expensive repairs.

Sounds like good advise. I hadn't considered valve clearence. I was thinking fuel or spark. I'll have that looked at very soon. Thanks tsmithvt

I forgot my manners. Welcome to the forum. Good to have you here.:) You can be a help to us if you let us know whether your valves were actually running tight and if readjustment (if required) corrects your stalling problem. This type of information greatly adds to our collective knowledge base and is invaluable.
If you fill out your forum profile, that sometimes helps us as well. Again welcome, and pictures of your V would be nice too.

Have you ever had the ignition switch recall performed on this vehicle? Your symptoms are eerily similar... I'll bet when it dies, it them restarts right away?
Where are you located? What country?
If you fill out your profile, with your location, it will help. Honda makes many variations of the CR-V around the world.
