Hey, just wanted to share a trick I tried.

I ran the CRV thru one of those brushless car washes that has a spray wax at the end of the wash cycle. Don't ya know it - it left ugly white haze on the black trim and side cladding.

I did a lot of research and didn't get a definitive answer on what to do, so I took it upon myself to try something I had around the house - the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

It worked GREAT - the pics below tell the story (I know she's a little dirty, I washed it when I was done :D )

Nice job.

One old trick for blackening unpainted plastic is to wipe-on some Peanut Oil. Looks great! (Ya gotta watch out for hungry elephants, though... KIDDING!)
:p

A co-worker used Turtle Wax "Back to Black" on his V...that did a very nice job also!

I use mothers back to black but after a few days it fades off.

I hate to suggest it, but this is a trick some FC owners use to make their faded tail light trim look nice and black again........petroleum jelly..use the smallest amount and massage it into the black trim, it should work and stay for a while.

Armor All Original protectant also works...but it lasts maybe a week. Oil, as someone previously mentioned here, works too.

Any silicon spray should do it (just dont get it on yer paint)

Silicon spray (such as Armor-All) turns brown at the first rainfall. :(

Meguiar's Endurance, Back to Black, and Stoner's Trim Shine stay black, longer.

Peanut oil works good too. :D

Hi All, New to site here. Just wanted to say that I use Turtlewax Ice on my V's Bumpers and Black trim and it works great and lasts a long time.

Thanks

I use the 303 line of cleaners and protectants for all of my plastics. This stuff lasts forever, and protects it from turning grey due to sunlight. It's even safe for use on leather. I've been using it on boats for over 15 years, and it's never let me down. It leaves plastic, rubber and vinyl looking great, not greasy like some products. It's not cheap but it's worth it.

edglock21 - Aerospace 303 is great stuff. Hard to find sometimes though. Boat/marine places carry it.

I just saw that you have a Shelby GLHS! I love those little cars! Never had a chance to get one,but I remember when they came out. I had previously owned a 79 Omni 4 door hatch, 4 speed. That little bugger was fairly quick to 50 mph and got an easy 30mpg. Dodge had a good thing going with the Holley carb and hemi head on them.

I have always used the Meguires line up of car care products, but when it come to preping the interior pieces at the beginning of the car show season I wipe all plastic down with 70% rubbing alcohol and once its dry I use the interior protectant.

I use to use bathroom cleaner with bleach, than use color to black or something like it on my grandmother's 90 civic wagon.
