Above all, I have to admit that I am a very light-foot driver.

I just had a 650mile (round trip), ~76mph speed, got ~27mpg.

Daily commute : ~55mile (round-trip). Highway/city split = 90/10. Average speed on highway = 60 mph; in city = 30 mph. Live in TN valley. Roads are hilly. When is going up-hill, I won't force it to keep 60mph. I don't care it drops to 50mph. When it is down-hill, just let it fly to 65mph (55 is the speed limit). If the romote traffic-light turns into red, I don't feel any necessarity to rush to the line and then push the break. It is no-brain in my mind. I am constantly observing this: so many cars pass me like I am riding a bike. but sooner or later we all stop in front of the same traffic light.

I started driving in Jan 1st. Though the break-in period is said to be very short, I do notice an increase (2~3) in mpg after I put ~6,000 mile on the car. Well, I cannot rule out the contribution from the warmer and warmer weather. Anyway, if one doesn't pay some attention from the very beginning and enjoys 75~80~90mph in the "break-in" period, he/she has to live with the potential consequence throughout the rest of the car's life.

The car can only do so much in mpg. It is the driver, who makes the difference. If one enjoys quick acceleration and then a hard break in front of the traffic lights; if one 100% relies on the CRV to save gas, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't lose any pleasure being a bit too conservative. The ride is so smooth and I enjoy it everyday.

You guys have to try diesels.

At least 36 mpg overall and 45 on a long run with a lot of performance.

Available in Uk and Europe.

I did a 265 mile trip Monday at around 70 mph. Average was 27.2 mpg. This is the first vehicle I've owned that beat the EPA rating.

You know, it's funny...people told me I'd get better MPG after installing a CAI on my Element. I did and I have noticed a slight increase. However, the CAI makes the acceleration louder. So, sure...there are times when I want to hit it and enjoy the sound. But, most of the time, the CAI has made me more aware of my acceleration habits and I've eased off of it. So, is it the technology of the CAI that did it or just the behavior change. I've often wondered. :)

I have had my CR-V for lets see; 6 mo. and 5 days. we have around 5,500 miles on it and the Oil life minder system says 50%. the first tank of gas we got around 18 over all. (my wife likes to warm it up in the mornings... what ever) so she lets it idle for about 5 minutes, whe has ranged from 19 to 24.5 after the first tank full. I drove us on a relatively speeking fast, flat long trip. It is getting a little warmer out now (34-43) and I set the cruise at 68 mph, and returned 29.4 mpg on the tank at just shy of 400miles on the tank. the computer said 29.5 I did the math it was 29.4. I am pretty sold on the Maint Minder, and the Instant and Avg. MPG meters on the CR-V.

I am glad to know that I am not the "lone-star". I am not a mpg star at all. A lot of guys are getting better mpg than I am. The contribution to the wallet + to the enviroment are marginal by each of individuals. But together we can make the sky a bit brighter and the air a bit fresher. Too ambitious?

I am kind of addict to watching the real-time mpg bar jumping up and down. I guess I need to find a way to enjoy driving the car more than let it drives me (nuts). :D

My first 5~10 tanks of gas were in winter driving. I got ~24.8mpg at that time. Now, I am on 6,500mile and oil life is 50% and the mpg is getting 27~28. Correct me if I am wrong - I have a sneaking suspicious that cold weather decreases the MPG by 1~2. See? I am really obsessed by numbers like 1 or 2. :o

Diesel fuel here in the US is almost a dollar more per gallon!
