I was looking at the ROC this morning and was amazed at how many pics owners of Ridgelines had posted using thier trucks for recreation. So, I thought it might be fun to start a thread of pics using our CRV's for fun as well.
I've posted two pics of my 06 CRV with my canoe loaded ready to take my family on a day trip down the Chestatee River in North Georgia. I bought the CRV with outdoor activities in mind and it really does fit my needs. We not only carry canoes, kiyaks and bikes on top but pull a Seadoo behind. It does a great job.
Note the Yakima Racks on top. I really like them better than the factory racks because they are easily removable.
Ok, everyone, post some pics using your CRV for fun!

Hi Beaullieu,
That's a nice setup you have there. I also have an 06 CR-V that I plan on using to lug around my new boat (Native Watercraft Ultimate 14.5). So, I'm looking at getting an afermarket rack system and I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to answer some questions (based on your experience) that I have. Well, here goes...
Did you consider the Thule rack system? If so, why did you go with the Yakima?
What strap do you use to tie-down the bow of your canoe? It looks neat and tidy, but is it secure? Have you found the edge of the hood to bend or warp where the hooks are located?
Do you tie the stern of the boat down also? If so, where do you anchor the straps?
Do you use the Yakima gunwale brackets to secure your canoe onto the crossbars? If so, have you found they damage the gunwales in any way?
Do you think the foam canoe blocks would be a good alternative with the yakima bars?
Since the bars can only be mounted at specific points along the roof, it seems the rear bar is not far back enough to set the canoe onto it without first touching the body of the car. So, how do you load your canoe on top of the rack without scratching/damaging the surface of your CR-V (i.e., if you're loading the canoe by yourself)?
Any other input regarding your experiences (both positive and negative) using your Yakima rack for canoe and kayak carrying would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
NoVAngler.

How did you get a 2WD EX? I thought for Gen 2 the LX had 2WD optional, but EX and SE had 4WD standard.

No...I thought ALL 2006 EX CR-Vs were 4WD. I thought you could only get front-wheel drive on the LX.
