ShaunWelcome to the forum! :)

Yes.

Air down the tires, though. If you had one with VSA, I would tell you to turn off VSA first.

What is VSA?

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) is a yaw control system that senses excessive vehicle understeer or oversteer and applies the brakes on one side or the other to bring the vehicle back within preset yaw limits (back under control). A secondary function of the system is traction control (TCS). This system uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to detect excessive front wheel spin (on one side). When detected, the system applies the brake on the side without traction (spinning wheel) to "push torque" to the wheel with traction (It functions much like a LSD). At the same time, the system reduces throttle until traction is reestablished or wheel spin is reduced to acceptable (preset) limits.:)

If it's really of interest, a quick search of the forum will turn up a lot more detailed information about VSA/TCS (When it's useful and when it should be turned off).

this is an old post but i figured i would chime in. I also surf fish and access the beach VIA the crv. I have not had a problem to date with it. Just make sure the tires are at 12psi. From what I have noticed is that many people say to get to 15psi, but with the crv I have found 12psi to be much better on the sand. Just remember to not make quick turns at faster speeds with your tire pressure that low or it will pop the tire right off the bead and that is not fun when you are on sand. Always remember to keep a few squares of thick plywood in case you need to jack the vehicle up. They also work well if you happen to get stuck. I also keep on board a small foldable shovel in case I need it.
