View Full Version : Can I replace the OEM tires and get credit (new CR-V)

Hey,
Planning to buy a 2008 CR-V EX-L in May. I just upgraded tires on my '02 civic through tirerack and so I looked up the reviews on the OEM Bridgestones. Sounds absolutely awful especially as we are moving to Boston! I'm thinking of changing them out to Goodyear Fortera or Assurance Tripletreads (? any difference between them).
My question is, can I do this in the first 1-2 days of owning the car and get cash/credit for the new Bridgestones?
Thanks,
E

You could always ask your dealer to switch them out as a part of the sale; it never hurts to at least ask!

My dealership has done it from time to time. We don't give full pop for the tires coming off....but we give something back. As Badgerland said it never hurts to ask.

best to ask your salesguy. some dealers do it with no charge at all coz the tires are basically brand new and they can sell them. the guy my family deals with do it for us all the time. unfortunately i didnt ask for my crv. :(

if you wait until you drive out of the lot and go to an independent tire shop and trade it in, they rip off so bad that you will cry.

I agree with Jeprox about not waiting. A local tire shop I've done a lot of business with would only give me $30 a tire for the Continentials on my 08 (they had about 30 miles on them). I wish I had thought to talk with the Honda salesman about swapping out tires before I took delivery.

Still, the Continetials on my 08 are acceptable while the Bridgestones on my 04 were not. (Apples and oranges?)

IMO, if you can get the tires of your choice put on your CRV before you take delivery, go for it.

Happy CRVing
