Whatever the money grabbing politicians, environmentalists and anti car and 4x4 campaigners throws at the new car industry in the way of low emission legislation, new passenger and pedestrian safety legislation and politically correct products, the industry always comes up trumps.
The manufacturers also get pushed to provide new cars that meet all the ever changing new requirements at lower or at least the same prices. No wonder so many manufacturers are in financial trouble and industry jobs have been lost.
The all new Honda CR-V soft off-roader or SUV which goes on sale in the UK from 1 January 2007 appears to answer all the criticisms aimed at 4x4s and meets all the requirements for leaner, cleaner and greener new vehicles.
