hello guys, I just want to know if there are canadians here wants to share some info's about their V's Liter/100km reading. My V's reading average is 11.8 L/100km and Im city driving, never tried Hi ways yet, cause im still breaking in my V's. And Im not sure if its true that the car is new and the engine is not break in yet, the consumption of gas is high. Can anybody help me with this idead. Thanks guys!;)

Your fuel efficiency will definitely get better as you get some miles on your V. Many members have confirmed this. Sometimes it has taken 5000 miles or more for things to stabilize. :) BTW, it's more the chassis "breaking in" than the engine itself.

Thanks for the info. you said more chassis breaking in than engine. what do you mean by that?

The entire drive line (U-joints, bearings, seals etc.) of a new vehicle is "stiffer" (more resistance). It takes more energy to turn new gears, bearings and seals. They loosen up or bed in with time. This all helps improve fuel efficiency.

the best i've done with my 07 on the highway was around 8+L/100km.
city driving for me is usually around 11.5 average. when the traffic is really bad, i've seen 12 to 13/100km.
during the break-in period last year, for city driving with bad traffic - i've seen it climb up to 15/100km

the best i've seen since buyin the car was 5+L/100km. yes you read that correct. it's bcoz no traffic on a stretch of road going downhill. the reading stayed at 5+ for about 5 mins and as soon as i hit traffic, it jumped back up to 11+ in less than 2 mins. :D

You can get some really large or small readings soon after reseting the odometers. I have had 43 Mpg and 9 mpg because I either went down a hill or up a hill soon after reseting the odometer which also zeros the fuel economy indicator. The more distance you have on the odometer the less effect hills or rapid accellerations will have on the indicated mileage because it is being averaged over the total odometer reading.

My wife and I have a 2008 Executive CR-V that we bought in May of this year here in Germany. We got it through an Importer from Denmark and easy to tell because the headlilghts are always on. In the summer we went on a couple longer trips and the motor ran at about 7.2l/100km. Average driving speed was between 130-135kmh. Since the winter months and the -20 degree Celsuis temps we are averaging about 9l/100km. We did nothing special during the break-in period and just drove like normal. We are pretty pleased with the fuel consumption.
