Hello,

I'm new to CRV's, we picked up a used dealer approved i-ctdi exec the other week, so far so good, it's the wife's car and she loves it. I drove it to the shops last weekend and it's properly tank like!!

Anyway, I have a question that I need answering, there's a lump under my left foot on the drivers side, what is it?
I spoke to the dealer and although they were extremely helpful, only identified it as something to do with the engine and petrol tank and that it should be there, they couldn't be more specific.
I checked with a friend who has a petrol version and yes she's got the same thing under the carpet, but what is it? And why couldn't they have located it elsewhere, like under the centre console or the seat?

TIA

Believe it or not, after speaking to an engineer, its there as a double whammy. Yes it serves a purpose for the engine, but it was ergonomically designed, rasiing the level of the drivers foot to easily reach the high level of the pedal. If you look around the drivers footwell you will notice, plastics and padding all over the show, making driving more comfotable!

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply, indeed there is padding and stuff, but can't help but think they could have put it elsewhere. Even with padding etc. it's still noticeable and I can see it becoming an irritant after a while, you know like when you have a large bit of gravel in the footwell that's come off your boot when driving and your heel keeps clipping it :o :D

Cheers

I think it accommodates the 'Cat' part of the exhaust system...probably to give max ground clearance. Well that's what it looks like on my 2006 2.2 cdti
