Greetings!

New member here. Have admired the CRV for some time, but
out of our budget. Finally got off my butt and found a good job,
but driving a 16 mpg gas hog Durango had to come to an end.

Yesterday we found a fully loaded, well decked 2003. Hubby and
I fell instantly in love. 6 CD disc changer, sun roof, running boards,
luggage rack, and many other features of an exact twin parked next
to it without a thing. What a difference!

So we told the sales guy we were going to lunch, as we had to burn
an hour before hub's 2003 Civic was out of the shop. He asked if we
wanted the car, we said we will be back to make a deal. We came back
and the car was gone. Gone! Some lady walked in and paid sticker.
No haggling. For a teenager. Hmph! That car was loaded well beyond
necessary for a kid. Ah, people with money.

Long story short, we shopped our BUTTS off all day long. Just about
to give up, we picked up an auto magazine from the convenience store.
Found a couple, looked at one (crap lot, car fax indicated a wreck, etc.)
called about another (no answer) and finally settled on a private sale
ad.

We don't know if we like the car or the seller better. Very up and up
young man, well groomed, educated, employed, honest. Car was cleaner
than ANY we had seen all day long, even at the dealerships.

14,400.00 later we had a deal. No, it isn't the newest and it isn't
decked out like we had hoped, but we're now waiting to hear from
the bank. Should not be a problem, but we are anxious, of course.
2004 somewhat plain Jane, but that can be fixed.

We were spoiled on the first one we wanted, so the sun roof was a
real sticking point. Hopefully a sun roof can be installed without any
complications.

Black, not our color choice, but we love all the gadgets, compartments
and such. Besides, when a black car is spic and span, nothing better
looking in the sunset. Nice!

Crossing my fingers and hoping it is ours by week's end.

Karen

Welcome to the club and I believe you hold the record for the longest non-problem related first post.

I wish you luck in your adventure with your purchase. One thing does concern me is your comment about adding a sunroof. I am not sure that will be an inexpensive exercise. I would check into that rather thoroughly before buying if it is that important to you.

I would simply give you mine, I for most part despise the thing, but I think I would find the gaping hole a bit uncomfortable in the winter. I am clueless as to why people like those things, but I am old and cranky. Ok, I admit that I do open mine when waiting in parking lots for my wife, providing the sun is not shining on me. It does allow the car to be a little cooler.

Well, welcome to the club and good luck with your purchase and eventual V.

I can feel your excitement! You'll both love Honda, and the V is amazing. I hope you post a follow up with a great ending...or beginning. Good luck! Jennifer :)

I believe you hold the record for the longest non-problem related first post.

LOL...Not sure if that references my ever-present habit of long-winded
posts or that most folks who join begin complaining right off the bat.

Very glad you've mentioned the downfalls of a sunroof. I suppose we
liked it due to the second slider thing-a-ma-jig. I've never seen one
(don't get out much, can you tell? :o ) so maybe the sliding cover is
standard, then the second sunroof was exposed and tilted open.

Hubby does think it needs to be sportier looking, and although we were
not shopping for looks, I have to admit the first CRV we looked at was
too cool. When the salesman told us it was the same model as the one
next to it, I thought he was nuts. Amazing what running boards, a luggage
rack and a few other ditties such as window vents make a difference in
the appearance.

(Ours pending bank approval)

Thank you both for the welcome. Think we're going to be stuck on
Honda for a while, if not forever. Only wish we'd come over to the other
side sooner.
