Hi,

I'm undecided between getting a MT or AT CR-V. One of the factors is that we will be towing our catamaran and a light travel trailer. Nothing over 1500 lbs.

Is the manual transmission preferable to the automatic one, when it comes to towing?

Thanks!

Thanks!My opinion would be YES.

The manual trans V's have a lower gear overall gear ratio and the manual trans lets you more easily use engine braking to help stop the vehicle while towing.

However, with towing that light of an amount, it really isn't that big of a deal. I use my Dodge diesel pickup to occasionally tow a car trailer and a couple of larger boats. I wouldn't want an auto for those kinds of duties.

I didn't know you could get the CRV with a manual transmission.

In the USA, Gen 3 (07 & 08) Vs are not available with a manual transmission. :(
