My 2001 honda crv's abs warning lite has come on. I have checked all related fuses(i think) and they all are good. Could it be one of the relay switches or something else? Manuel says take to dealership but I refuse until Ive looked into a little. Brakes under the normal dry weather conditions ive encountered seem normal. Any input appreciated. thanks mark

Next time it rains, try out the ABS on a big, empty, wet parking lot. Get up to about 30mph and nail the brakes as hard as you can. Does the ABS work? Can you feel the pedal pulsating? Have you done a flush of your brake fluid within the last couple of years or 30k miles? Is the fluid level correct?

My light came on as well, come to find out its the ABS Modular and the part is $1500.00 a lone to fix. Not worth it with a Honda Accord EX-L with 196,000 miles on it.

If your ABS lite is on then the ABS portion of your brake system is disabled. The light is lite when ever the self testing ABS computer gets an incorrect signal back from a componet of the ABS system (on ignition switch II position / start up). I have a 98 CR-V with 198K miles on it, the ABS light is lite and I have trouble shot my problem down to a bad right rear ABS wheel sensor. I have a factory service manual, and the manual tells of how you can read the code for module failure by using a special honda connector shorting tool or as I used a paper clip. Once the connector is shorted and the ignition switch is in the correct position the ABS lite blinks a series of long and short flashes of the lite, mine was one long blink, five short, repeated. Hence the 15 code. Took this info and looked up in ABS module trouble chart (in factory service manual) and saw what it indicated to trouble shoot. Used VOM to check resistance of sensor at sensor connector and found it to be open. When the sensor is open, replace. So for me, very simple trouble shoot and will fix when weather improves. Please note that an ABS lite usually signifies that the ABS portion of the brake system is disabled, but that does not mean that I recomend that it be ignored. Can't say for sure that this type of procedure will work on your year but if you have a manual or access to one then you could read the ABS section and see. Lots of luck and let us know what you find out. Russ

So, what is abs code 15? trouble shoot? Did it direct you to a specific sensor. left, right, front, back? I am getting code 15 also. Any more info on the code?

DTC 15 indicates the right-rear wheel speed sensor circuit is either open or shorted. Most often the fault is found to be the sensor itself.
