Hiya. Without being able to conveniently (90mi one-way) get to a shop to see parts in person, I'm trying to narrow down roof rack options, so I'm pretty sure what to get when I go. After scouring the forums I'm still not sure about a couple things, considering getting a Honda, Yakima, or Thule rack. Mainly, I want to transport a bike, but also possibly a cargo box.

I previously had a vehicle with wing-shaped crossbars like the Honda bars appear to be, but was frustrated because accessories weren't available to mount to these. It seems to me, having owned a Yakima rack before, that accessories are designed for Yakima round crossbars or Thule rectangular crossbars, or both, but not aero-bars ... right?
Or can I somehow attach a couple of tray-style bike carriers I have, which have both round and square mounting options, to a Honda Rack?
Is there a limited set of accessories that mount directly on the Honda crossbars? Or are there (convenient and solid?) adapters from wing-shaped crossbars to most accessories?

Right now, I'm leaning toward Yakima, because I know it works and because I've read that the tower 'stumps' are very clean with the rack off. I'm interested in the other options because I know the round crossbars really howl.

This is my Gen 1 with the stock factory Honda roof rack that came with the vehicle.

A friend of mine recently sold her 2003 V and saved the factory Honda bike rack. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out how to install it, but came across the details on the web without problems and was surprised to find that the factory roof rack system of Honda hasn't changed much at all in terms of installation and use. Thus, the 2003 bike carrier fits the 1997 Gen 1 rack system. Cool!

The factory Honda carrier is solid, virtually noiseless and not hard at all to install. I would recommend it without question!
