Hi there. I'm a CRV owner, now on my 2nd CR-V, a 2003 VTEC Sport Auto. Previously owned a 1997 automatic which had a slightly better driving position, but not so good on-road performance IMHO. Great cars - thoroughly enjoyed driving them - though CRVs are getting a bit un-economical these days.

Does anyone know, will the ABS system still work if I have a warning light due to a faulty sensor? The reason I ask is my CRV has been into the garage for some work as a result of a minor accident (not my fault!), and one of the sensors was broken. The garage is fine about sorting this out, but it's touch and go whether it will be done in time for Friday, when I need to take the car on a family holiday to northern Scotland. The mechanic claims the ABS will work fine if the light is on, but the manual suggests the ABS system will shut down.

If your ABS indicator (upper left corner of the center instrument/indicator panel between the tach and speedometer) stays ON after startup, your ABS has shut down. The brakes should continue to operate normally if this is the only indicator on, but the ABS will NOT be operational.

Thanks a lot. This is what I thought, the mechanic said he spoke to Honda but I am not convinced.
