My new CR-V replaced a Nighthawk Black 2005 Acura TSX. I have had the CR-V for about 5 weeks and am pleased with my choice. I miss the handling and fuel economy of the TSX, but needed the extra room and AWD of the CR-V. So far I have been averaging 27.2 MPG (26.6 on the trip computer) in 75% rural driving. I really miss the 33 mpg I was averaging with the TSX, but I don't miss the premium gas price....I guess it's a wash.
I was pleasantly surprised that so many of the controls and "button-ology" was identical or very similar to the Acura. I was able to adapt to the CR-V within minutes. The interior was what really sold me on the CR-V. The ergonomics and quality just blew the competition away. I am retired and have owned luxury brands for the past 20 yrs (Audi, Acura, MB) and I feel right at home in the CR-V. I kid some of my friends with Lexus RX's that my butt is just as warm and comfortable as theirs, but my wallet is $15,000 thicker.
One thing that I am really trying not to hate is the automatic transmission with grade logic. My Acura had a 6 spd manual, K24 engine with 200 hp and 166 lb of torque, and weighed about 300 lbs less than the CR-V. It was able to handle the hills with out downshifting. It just seems that Honda is trying too hard to mask the lack of torque while sacrificing economy. Honda, if you are listening, we want a slick shifting 6 spd.
I look forward to sharing my CR-V experiences with the forum.
