Dear Honda,
Please allow the option of a manual transmission (6-speed would be great; 5-speed better then nothing) in the 2009 CR-V.
If you do, I promise I will buy one (just like my old 1999 EX that I put 180k miles on).
Thank you,
Helplessly Hoping

Welcome to the club. You are not the only one to wish for a manual transmission. They offer it in Europe, so keep hoping, but don't hold your breath.
Welcome to the club and we hope you get a new V even if it is an automatic.
Hi - i know this is an old thread, but it caught my eye ..
Here in the UK, you can only have the Diesel CR-V with a 6-speed manual - first time i've ever had a Honda, and mainly because of the gearbox its probably the last!
Lots of great things about the car, but its worse than some of the cars i used to drive 30 years ago (showing my age there..) - slow, clunky and almost no syncromesh on some downshifts.
So, be careful what you wish for...

Sorry to hear that you are disapointed with your V. This is the first time I have seen any criticism of the manual transmission on this site. Are there are other UK owners that share your observations? Are you sure that there is not a problem with your transmission? I can understand your disappointment, V's are expensive in the UK. Welcome to the club.

I don't think that there will ever be a manual Tranny in the CR-V, Element, or the 4 door V6 Accord.:( Unfortunatly Americans as a whole do not like to drive cars with a manuale transmission (they think that it is too much work:confused:)).
Anyway they just got rid of the Manual Tranny in the 2WD LX and EX trims of the element and in the 4WD LX model too.:(
I am pretty sure it wont be comming back to the states:(.
Anyone want to place bets on this?:D

I'm age 66, and have NEVER owned a car with an auto tranny. I've always wanted exact control of shifting criteria. But now, with the anti car philosophy causing nearly constant traffic jams, I decided to go auto. Stop & go traffic is miserable with having to constantly slip a clutch.

I love the 6 speed in my fathers RX-8. There are some places that I would hate driving a stick though. But with me in my youth I am pretty sure that I will never get old.:D

They still offer a manual in the Element, and the last generation V6 Accord sedan could be had with a manual in its last years.
Keep in mind that CR-Vs with manual transmissions only accounted for around 6% of total sales...

The Element only has the Manual Tranny in the SC and the 4WD EX trims. I would rather just get the 4WD LX but it is only offered as an automatic. These are the 09 Elements.
And the 08/09 Accord V6 has 275 hp(I think) vs the latemodels 244hp.
