I just installed a yakima rack for my 07 CR-V this weekend. Installation was easy, except, Yakima has omitted the CR-V measurements w/ the instructions for the Q Clips. You will need Q39 and Q131 clips, and the instructions for both sets do not include the measurements for the CR-V. I had to go online to Yakima's website to get the M-4's. Otherwise, I'm happy with the way it came out. Pictures might help others decide if they want factory or yakima.

Thank you for posting your pics. Are these racks easily removeable? I would like the option of removing the racks when not in use.

Yakima has a rack that fits right in where the OEM roof rack would instead of doing the clips (if I'm not mistaken)

They do. I think they are removeable too. I'm still researching options at this point. I am looking into getting a rack because I need to carry surfboards on the top, but I don't want to leave them on all the time if I can avoid it. The problem I see with the yakima/thule options that will fit into the standard CRV spot, is that they have what I think is referred to as a "Landing Pad". I believe that when I take the rack off I will have four little bumps sticking up from the top of my car where the landing pads go. I don't think I will like the way it looks.

I prefer the look of the OEM rack but it isn't removeable. I am concerned it will affect my gas mileage. I also don't know if I will like the appearance on my car all the time. You don't see very many CR-V's with the OEM racks so I can't get a sense of what they will look like.

I wouldn't worry about your mileage being affected by an empty rack .... it's the accessory carriers that'll drop it a little .... ;)

Good to know! Thanks, I will most likely go with the OEM rack because I think it looks the most streamlined.:)

I agree. I was pleasently suprised though when I drove 173 miles with a sea kayak and a rocketbox ontop and still got 27 mpg average. All highway at 65 mph.

Wow, that's some good mileage with stuff on your roof. I just recently returned from a 1000-mile camping trip and had a soft cargo bag from Target (about 13 cu. ft. volume) attached to the OEM roof rack. To be fair, there was a decent headwind on the way up, but we still only got 22 mpg for 500 miles at about 70mph with the cargo bag. For the 500 miles home, without the bag on the car (but with the rack, of course), we got 28 mpg. I think carrying aerodynamic things must make a huge difference, because that cargo bag stuffed with lightweight lumpy pillows/sleepingbags/towels was not making us happy at gas stations. :(

Hello, I am curious why you chose the QTower system versus the Control Tower/Landing Pad system for your 07 CRV. I am deciding between the two, and am leaning towards the QTower as it will give the flexibility to spread the bars farther apart from the factor mount points. Please advise. Thanks.

I have the Yakima locking racks on my Civic Hybrid along with the the same box.[Booster} I like them very much. They go on when I take my Kayak to the lake and when I get home I remove them. I never leave them when not in use. It only takes 10min. to install and 5 min to remove. I have OME on my 2006 CR-V. For the V I prefer this system. The vehicle is much higher and more difficult to attach things? The Civic is very low. I do have a air deflector on the Yakima racks otherwise it is noise.I don't hear a thing on the V! :D Cheers, Hal
