I own a 2000 CRV Ex 5Spd. I love the vehicle. The only problem is that I drive on the highway often. In fifth gear my engine is reving at around 3800 rpm at 75 to 80 mph. I would like to know if anyone has change out the top gear for a higher ratio. I am an ASE certified auto technician. I can do the work myself. I just do not know if there is a gear out there from another Honda or any other brand that would fit in place. If anyone can help with info LMK.
Thanks In Advance,

I have heard of Element and 2nd gen CR-V owners adding the 6th gear from an Acura (I believe that was it) but don't know if that is a possibility on the first gen's. It is supposedly quite easy to do.

Try a couple of the other Element forums on the web. I can't recall which one right now and I didn't save the link. One had a complete how-to including nice technical pics and all part numbers. More than one person had done the mod.

Check out the 6 speed conversion thread that I just posted in this forum. It has the links.

Here is the link to the other thread in case it gets pushed down the listing a ways.

dunno if you're still interested in this, but do you happen to know the crv 5th ratio? I don't see why you wouldn't be able to swap in the 94-01 Integra LS (B18B) 0.714 5th

I found this weird when doing some digging in the Honda parts catalog tho- the stock 2000 crv 5th fits 98-01 crv and 97-01 prelude...

..which means your stock 5th should be either 0.812 or 0.870(?)

and which also implies that you may need to go with either F- or H-series stuff instead of regular old b-series parts contrary to what i originally assumed earlier. I'm not sure if gears are interchangeable between engine families ie- B=F/H/etc? If they are then you can probably just use whatever you want, but if not and you do have to go with F or H series your best bet is probably:

92-96 Prelude S (F22A1)= 0.710
94-97 Accord (all?)= 0.685

According to the service manual (Helms) 5th gear .812 for a 2000.
