New Owner! '07 EX-L Navi-Question

I just got my '07 CRV last night. I LOVE it! I'm new to the world of navigation systems and had a question. Where can you go to find out when/if there are updates to the system? Are the updates CDs terribly expensive? I noticed tonight that there was some information in my navi system that's about a year out of date. That really surprised me but I wouldn't think the software in a brand new car wouldn't be the most recent available. I looked on the Honda website and searched the web but I can't find anything about the system software. Thanks!

from my experience with the Navi in the '06 civic i owned, there is website that be found in the manual, i want to say telenav or something like that... but im not exactly sure...

They are DVD's. The best idea would be to contact the dealer.

to be perfectly honest about the nav system, it is probably the worst system i've ever seen..

atleast on the civic... XM was not installed, it was an $800 optional install... they also had a really difficult to use iPod hookup, which was also a hefty install and price tag...

it didn't interface XM with the navi system, no traffic updates, although with my examination of the software, it was capable of doing so... the system is Alpine's navigation system, although, Alpine has more intuitive iPod hookups as well.

when i just purchased my CR-V LX, i made sure to stay FAR away from the whole nav thing... i'd rather use a window-mount system or my Treo 700 as a navigation (my christmas gift!)

and if im not mistaken, the navi was almost a $2000 option on the CR-V, only $1500 on the Civic, no clue why???

also, the CR-V navigation system includes the rear view camera that I don't believe the civic has.
