Greetings, all: I recently bought a '97 with about 120K miles on it. My daily drive includes about 1 mile of dirt/rocky road. Besides the frontend clunk which might be the stabilizer links(Thanks for that post, by the way) it also has a clunk in the rear. This occurs when the wheel reaches the lower limit of travel(for example, the body is leaning left and RH rear wheel drops) It doesnt happen every time & I try to drive slowly off road but it has gotten worse in the last month. Thanks in advance Suzi C

Suzi, there are stabilizer links on the rear, as well.

But next time your V is on a lift, have them check the rear control arm rubber bushings. They can deteriorate. If they are bad, the bushings can be changed separately. Don't let a dealer or shop tell you that the whole control arm needs to be replaced...that is no longer the case.
