Fourth Honda; other three were not perfect but dealer treatment and overall quality set a very high standard...New dealer service( sales department OK) has soured me somewhat on our forth Honda('07 CR-V).. I can see this vehicle is well thoughtout and build quality is overall high but it's difficult for me to not hold Honda Corp.somewhat responsible/accountable for their dealers...They are the last people we see before taking ownership and the one's we rely on to solve any "gliches" that may occur...Am I off-base holding Honda partially accountable for this particular dealer's service department's incompetence..?? I would like to think Honda corp. is on my side if everyone has to step into a "boxing" ring...

Frank unfortunately none of the car manufacturers will take responsibility for anything a dealer says or does. The reason is every dealer is an independant business that is basically a franchisee of a manufacturer. They have to abide by certain rules and regulations that are put down by the manufacturer but the manufacturer can't tell the dealer how to run their business.
You can certainly file a complaint with American Honda and even ask to meet the Honda Area Executive to go over your issues/complaints. Those things Honda will take seriously and try to direct the dealership to better serve the consumer (you) but the dealership doesn't have to listen to Honda.
What are the problems you're having with your Service Dept?

Took three visits, one overnight, to get the tire monitoring light to remain off..During the last visit they acknowledged there was a "tapping" noise coming from the front left cowling area( there since day one) and took an extra two days to locate and resolve the noise;that lasted less than one day and the vehicle was returned with a scratched fender and door(scratched thru the paint)...Service manager called; I had written a letter to the dealership G.M. stating my disatisfaction with the entire matter, he said they had a paint service that could address the scratches-never mentioned attempting to resolve the recurring "noise" problem...I strongly hesitate to return to this service facility; nothing good has come from the previous visits.

Find my thread about my 5AT crunching just before it goes for 2nd gear. The dealer said that they 'could not verify the problem I was having'. What really gets me is that they sent me on my (CRUNCH!) way and gave the impression that I might be lying to them!
They do give you all the bottled water you can chug down though...
