Hello All
First entry to this group.
Associate recently purchased an 08 CR-V EX-L
Reasonable deal and good finance rate. He and family really are pleased.
I on the other hand are wondering if 09 will have any new models or specs that could be advantageous and worthy of waiting, any thoughts or news?

Welcome to the club! There had been rumors that Honda will introduce a diesel CR-V to North America in 2009, but those rumors seem to have died out. I can't substantiate it either way. I found this site by Googling "change 2009 CRV"
2009 Honda CR-V Preview from HondaPreview.com (http://www.hondapreview.com/crv/index.htm)
Generally Honda runs a generation for 4 to 5 years, so I don't think you see any big changes for several years.
For a discussion on the diesel CR-V:

If you search, you will find more diesel talk. There have been some wishes for hybrids, but I haven't seen anything concrete.
Welcome to the club, and good luck with your decision whether to buy or wait.

Thanks for the update.
Maybe the finance rates make an 08 advantageous over an 09 if the features are the same.

I was reading an article last night that said there are no changes to the 09 CR-V other than a couple color changes. The Dealer we're working with said there is normally a 5% increase between Model Years. That seems a bit high to me. I also saw an article on the new 09 RAV4 and the article said there was only going to be a .9% increase in the Sport and Limited and no change in the price of the Base Model. They are getting a complete make-over with no tire on the rear of the vehicle.

This preview for the 2009 Honda CR-V (http://iguida.com/2009-honda-cr-v) says the diesel engine will be offered in 2010. Apparently there is not much that will change from the '08 to the '09.

If you look at the 2009 CR-V owner's manual at https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/logon.asp it doesn't say anything about a diesel engine.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, as in limited info, but when we got our 2008 a few days ago the dealer had just gotten the new brochures for the 2009 (which inside looked almost the same as the 2008 ones, same pictures sometimes) and the only difference I saw was a new color (darker grey) and the black and silver colors have different names, and I assume different hues, than the 2008 models. Otherwise, much the same (but price?! maybe ;-)

This is correct.
New colors were added but no major (or even minor) changes were made. The MMC will be next year and be released fall of '09 as a '10 model.

I'm very surprised that Honda raised MSRP $395 across the board. They are clearly taking advantage of their position as the category leader.

Well Honda is Not as a profitable company as Nissan, Toyota, or some other Japanese car companys because Honda does not have a bank on top of its company. Also all MSRP Prices are bull KBB shows what cars are really worth.

I friend that works for a company that designs body parts for Honda cars and specially lots of parts for CRV 07+ models told me recently that the next scheduled "face lift" for the CRV is planned for 2011.
Hope they'll give us a turbocharged engine. :D

Current owners should be thankful for the price increase ($395). It is probably one of several reasons that Honda holds its value well. By analogy, Rolex continually raises its prices, and that is one reason the used Rolex watches retain their value well, because the price to buy new keeps going up, up, up.
The fact that there are no significant changes in the model (other than new color) also helps our resale.
To my satisfaction, it appears that CR-V marketing is more gender-neutral this year. Last year it seemed to be disproportionately marketed toward women (e.g. photos of purses in the rear and cute pink sunglasses in the front). It seems to be more evenly marketed to us guys in the 2009 literature. This includes color choices, e.g. Whistler Silver has become Alabaster Silver Metallic (which I like better).

Honda does not have a bank on top of its company.
Then who is American Honda Finance?
