As I said before I would like to add a little spice to my car. I was thinking about getting the fog lights but looked at the directions...no way no how could I install them. Does anyone know that if I bought Honda parts from somewhere else (at a cheaper price) can I take those to a dealer and have them installed? Would it be cheaper to take them to a local garage and have them installed? When customizing your car, which is the best practice?

Not sure about having your local dealership install them (as far as price), but I'm sure they would not turn away the business. My guess is that you can get cheaper install prices by going to a local shop.
Keep us posted on what you do and good luck.

BEFORE you buy the parts, find the shop that agrees to install parts that they don't sell. It may be tough to find one.

I purchased my HONDA fog lights (06 SE) off the internet at a much cheaper price then had my dealer do them . I was having them do the I-Pod adapter so they gave me a break. I had called around ( Best Buy ect) and they could do it cheaper ($75.00). With the savings from a dealer off the internet I came out good in the end. They do add a flare and now it doesn't look like I have two black holes in the front...
Be careful buying on-line. OK if it's from a Honda dealer, but some of the so-called 'original' parts advertised on Ebay are made for other countries. Wiring is not alway the same.

Absolutely , purchase only HONDA GENUINE PARTS there are a lot of so called genuine parts for sale out there .. Good Point I didn't clarify that they were from a Honda dealer.
Thanks....

Thank you for the warning.....I had been looking on ebay as well as some other places that say they offer a discount on Honda parts....I am asuming that H and A Accessories is a safe bet as others on here have bought things from there.

My general tip is not to stress to the service department that you bought the items online for a lot less than they charge. Just that you bought the item and decided not to install it yourself.
If you rub in that you bought it elsewhere for less they might be less willing to work with you. Also the 'online' thing might give them images of the ebay type items that people have mentioned already in this thread.

HandA makes a couple of good points. If you buy non-Honda parts, it will be really tough to find any dealer willing to install them. The reason is that they don't want the liability for breaking the part (or other parts), they don't know how well it will really work, etc.
If you can, look for a small independent shop that is willing to install things for you. They will probably charge much less than a full-on dealership anyhow.

Good point, I have a few friends that are service writers and after talking with them they actually will turn away people who buy things online like the ebay parts. Although with ebay sometime you can get lucky and get real parts, but its not a very common thing.

Hey, I was actually looking at getting foglights myself, (I have an 06), and my concern was the warranty (got it certified pre-owned about a month ago.) Anyway, pricing wise, I found the best price over at majestichonda.com, and was going to purchase those and have the local dealer install thinking everything will still be warrantied. So, before buying, I conatacted the dealer and they told me that for the work to be warrantied, the parts and labor must be through them. I was a bit miffed to hear that, because I would've saved about $150 or so. Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents about anyone wondering about warranty issues...

What happens is that if you do not buy the parts from the dealer and then you ask them to install them they get really mad and charge you twice as much for the installation, so if you saved on the parts you will overpay with the installation.
You can either go to Honda service and ask the guy that install the accesories if can install the parts outside Honda (do not let his manager hear you because he can get fire); most of them will and because they know how to do it will do a good job and charge you half the price.
Most internet sellers provide instructions and some have videos as well.
Dealer wanted to charge me $750 for fog lights installed ($175-250 on internet), $125 for wheel locks installed ($35 internet), $195 for cargo tray installed ($75 internet), $145 for exhaust finisher installed ($35 internet) and list goes on and on; they are clearly ripping off buyers big time.

I don't think that they can charge you more. They have to go by a book time for installation and multiply it by their hourly charge. Though they cam (probably) refuse doing installation all together. I don't know why would anybody do it. Some money made is better then no money at all. They might though refuse to do any repair work for free if say fog light fails just because they did not sell you both parts and labour.
That being said it's probable the best not to rub it in.
