I just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone. I, like many others I am seeing, am a new CR-V owner. I just picked it up yesterday and already loving it. I made the swtich from Toyota to Honda after watching my beloved Tundra die a slow death. It was in and out of the shop every week for over a month and no one could tell me why it was misfiring. It only had 78K miles on it and was becoming a high dollar parts swap with a new onboard computer in mind. Sad. I thought Toyota was better than that. BUT I guess Consumer Reports didn't lower their ratings of Toyota without reason.
After seeing what my beloved wife can do to a Honda and the vehicle still runs, is in my opinion a testament to the strength and reliability of Honda's products. I am sure I will enjoy this vehicle for many years. It's just the 2wd LX model but it has everything I wanted.
Well, Hello everyone and I guess I'll see ya around.

Welcome aboard! I recently sold my Toyota ('97 4Runner, 175k miles) and "upgraded" to Honda with my new CR-V. My 4runner was a real trooper for years, but recently had turned into what we used to call a "hangar queen" in aviation--in and out of the shop, costing way more money than I wanted to be spending on an 11-yr-old vehicle. SOOOO happy now with my new V. Wishing you many happy miles together!

Welcome to the club,I like you had a Toyota.A Rav 4 with 100 K before it started to cause me problems, burning oil so I had the valves done and it helped except when you took it on the highway and a 100 mile trip would be a half quart of oil.Toyota said it needed a ring job so I went next door to the Honda dealer and bought my 06 CRV EX-L.So far so good, all the best of on your V.

Thanks everyone. I was finally able to take it out on the highway today. I went to visit family about an hour away and it sure was nice to see that average fuel consumption hanging out above 27mpg. The Tundra was only getting me about 14 in combined city/hwy driving. Set the cruise at 60 and the fuel consumption gauge stays around 30mpg. It's a welcomed site. My sister and brother-in-law own a Volvo XC-90 sport utility and they were amazed at what came standard on the CR-V and how well the fit and finish is compared to their Volvo. I know it's two different classes of vehicles but still...I'm really impressed by how well this little Honda is put together and the attention to safety that has been built into it. Glad it's there...hope I never have to use it. LOL.

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I currently own a 1995 honda civic EX with 260,000... yes - 260,000 - miles on it. We have been extremely pleased with its performance and are looking to upgrade to a CRV since we have recently moved to the beautiful mountain terrain of southern West Virginia. Any tips or info from current owners out their would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
- Josh

If you have maintained a Honda for 260,000 miles I doubt if you need our help in anything to do with a CRV. What are your tips?! Yea, a CRV is nice...I love ours - if I only get to drive it on the weekends! ;)

Thanks for the input... I figured we would really like the CRV but I was just looking for some general input... I think we are going to wait for the 09 to come out in - October? Any info.. on this?
I bought my civic in 2000 from a guy who had 115,000 miles on it then which were all highway miles. He was kind of a car guru and degreased the entire engine every time he changed the oil...
Since purchasing it I have literally done nothing more than general maintenance - regular oil changes, tires, filters, brakes, etc...
Unless we buy a truck I don't think we will ever own anything other than honda... the Ridgeline is a little too big for our taste.

I forgot to mention that the previous owner also replaced the original timing belt before our purchase (I have read that this is a big key to long engine/transmission life).
