Hi All,

I have just bought a beautiful 1998 Honda CRV. The car was imported in 1999 but the model/type was not entered onto the V5. How do I get the model/type information? Can I derive it from the VIN data? Here is a photo of the dash showing the sat nav screen if this helps.

Regards

Gary

Your country and the country that the vehicle was imported from might aid someone helping you. I believe that you can tell from the VIN but you would have to know what the VIN codes are.

Some more info would be of an aid. Welcome to the club and good luck with your V!

Hi Black Pearl,

I think it was imported from Japan, but I'm checking with DVLA. The 'VIN' number stamped into the bulkhead is:

RDI (or RD1?) - 510xxxx

The engine number is:

B20B 7xxxxx.

I'll need some emery cloth to clean up the block to get the rest of the numbers.

maybe show some pics of the whole car.
some people may recognize it by seeing the exterior or the whole car

Hi, I dont know if you have sorted out your model yet. if not maybe I can help if you supply me the full VIN

RD1- means it was built for the japanese market the rest of the number (should be 7 digits) determines the exact model etc

I;ve seen those centre consols in civics before. Pain in the butt, and not in english, and doesnt have the us maps. I think I've only seen 2 people get it perfect in the US.
