Greetings, y'all.

My wife and I just purchased our first CR-V, and we love it. We are expecting our first child in March/April of next year, so it came at a perfect time. We bought a used 1997 CR-V, which got named the CRVball (curveball) by default, and it stuck.

Anyway, I also have owned five Ford Taurus SHOs and am familiar with forums and such, which is why I am posting up here.

With my other cars it has all been about maintenance. I am new to Hondas for the most part and very new to the CR-V group.

It currently has 179k on the ticker and runs like a champ. It's gorgeous on the inside, with full leather, and aftermarket sunroof from the PO, and a CD player. Everything works great, and at 6' 5" I have plenty of headroom (hooray!!!). We got it for a steal of a deal from a private owner who took really good care of it. However, I don't know any of the mechanical history of this rig. What are the things I need to take care of right away? I guess the timing belt, since it's an interference motor, and I have read a little about the rear dif, but other than that I don't know. I do all my own mechanical work because I don't trust anyone to work on my rigs. Too many bad experiences with Idiots-R-Us.

Right now the Maintenance Required thing is red. What's that for? What needs fixing? How do I get it to green again?

Thanks in advance.

Chris
